Favoritos de los premios Goya 2021 

El pasado lunes 18 de enero, la Academia de cine española de la mano de Ana Belén y Dani Rovira, anunció los nominados de los próximos premios goya. Esta 35 edición estará protagonizada por mas de 150 películas que optan a las distintas categorías de premios entre las que destacan los largometrajes de ficción, y documentales con 82 y 72 obras respectivamente. 

Aunque tendremos que esperar hasta el 6 de marzo para conocer a los vencedores, podemos destacar algunas cintas que cuentan con muchas posibilidades de triunfar en los premios. 

En primer lugar, con 13 nominaciones está Adú un emotivo drama que cuenta tres historias paralelas en el territorio africano: la de un niño de seis años que vive con su madre y su hermana en Camerún y se vera obligado a emigrar a Europa tras presenciar un robo. Al mismo tiempo vemos la historia de una hija y un padre que van viajando durante unas semanas por distintos lugares africanos para evitar la caza furtiva de animales; y por ultimo se narra la vida de un joven policía de Melilla que se prepara para enfrentarse a miles de subsaharianos que buscan asaltar la valla de paso a España. 

Esta película dirigida por Salvador Calvo nos transporta a muchos de los problemas que sufre el continente contiguo a España y nos invita a reflexionar sobre las fronteras físicas e ideológicas que se han construido a lo largo de los años para separar a África de Occidente. Además, cuenta con una fotografía, guion y dirección excelentes que son capaces de mostrar las distintas historias de manera clara y directa creando un viaje que resulta épico y honesto al mismo tiempo. 

En segundo lugar, con 9 nominaciones está la opera prima de Pilar Palomero, Las niñas ambientada en 1992, narra la historia de unas niñas de 11 años que estudian en un colegio de monjas de Zaragoza mientras que se van adentrando en una nueva etapa de sus vidas: la adolescencia. Durante la película, por medio de una fotografía y un guion extremamente intimista y sencillo podemos ver como estas niñas van descubriendo poco a poco algunas realidades de la vida de las cuales hasta ahora no eran conscientes y como se enfrentan a algunos de los tabús que inundaban la sociedad de entonces como la maternidad prematura. 

Esta cinta se llevó el premio a la mejor película en los premios Forqué y es, sin lugar a duda, una de las favoritas para hacerse con el mismo galardón en esta gala. Entre las categorías a las que está nominada destacan la de mejor dirección novel a Palomero, mejor fotografía para Daniela Cajías y mejor actriz de reparto para Natalia de Molina; y es muy probable que el filme se acabe llevando alguno de estos premios. Sin embargo, cabe mencionar la actuación novel de la protagonista Andrea Fandos que, a pesar de no recibir ninguna nominación por su corta edad ha sido laureada por su papel en la película por parte de la crítica. 

En tercer lugar, con cinco nominaciones, está Ane el primer largometraje de David Pérez Sañudo, un drama en euskera que cuenta la historia de una joven madre que, al darse cuenta de que su hija no ha regresado a casa empieza una búsqueda sobre su paradero la cual la llevara a descubrir la misteriosa vida que lleva su hija.

Esta película ha arrasado en el festival de San Sebastián llevándose el premio al cine vasco, al igual que en los premios Forqué donde la protagonista Patricia López Arnaiz se hizo con el galardón a mejor actriz. Es por ello por lo que no sería de extrañar que este éxito continuara en los Goya. 

Finalmente, cabe mencionar el ultimo filme de Icíar Bollaín, La boda de Rosa, con ocho nominaciones, sobre la liberación de una mujer que, a los 45 años se da cuenta de que ha estado viviendo una vida vacía satisfaciendo siempre a los demás, razón por la que decide contraer matrimonio consigo misma. Esta historia de liberación e introspección femenina se ha llevado el apoyo de la critica desde su estreno, no solamente por su cuidada estética y mensaje liberador, sino sobretodo por su protagonista, Candela Peña la cual hace una interpretación enormemente intimista y a la vez explosiva que puede llevarle a conseguir su cuarto Goya en esta 35 edición.   

A parte de estas películas, también cabe señalar otras muy buenas opciones que también cuentan con varias nominaciones como es el caso de la película de Cesc Gay, Sentimental con cinco nominaciones, o El año del descubrimiento, el documental de Luis Lopez Carrasco que promete hacerse con la categoría de “mejor documental” sobre los acontecimientos que tuvieron lugar en 1992 Cartagena, así como el nuevo filme de Isabel Coixet, Nieva en Benidorm protagonizada por Timothy Spall y Sarita Chodhury. 

Como hemos mencionado, tendremos que esperar hasta el 6 de marzo para saber si nuestras favoritas se hacen con algún premio, pero hay que reconocer que este año ha estado lleno de grandes obras audiovisuales y mas protagonizado que nunca por mujeres que se muestran mucho mas predominantes en todas las categorías de premios que años anteriores. Es por eso por lo que sean cuales sean los resultados no tenemos dudas de que serán bien merecidos.

Goya Awards 2021 favorites  

 On Monday January 18^th, the Spanish film academy, led by Ana Belén and Dani Rovira, announced the nominees for the next Goya awards. This 35th edition will be starring more than 150 films that compete for the different award categories, among which the fiction feature films, and the documentary stand out with 82 and 72 works respectively. 

Although we will have to wait until March 6 to meet the winners, we can highlight some films that have a lot of chances of winning the awards. 

In the first place, with 13 nominations, Adú is an emotional drama that tells three parallel stories in the African territory: a six-year-old girl who lives with her mother and her sister in Cameroon and will be forced to emigrate to Europe after witnessing a theft. At the same time, we see the story of a daughter and a father who are traveling for a few weeks through different African places to avoid the poaching of animals; and finally, we are told the life of a young policeman from Melilla who prepares to confront thousands of sub-Saharan Africans who seek to storm the fence on their way to Spain. 

This film directed by Salvador Calvo takes us to many of the problems suffered by the continent adjacent to Spain and invites us to reflect on the physical and ideological borders that have been built over the years to separate Africa from the West. Besides, it has excellent photography, script, and direction that can show the different stories clearly and directly creating a journey that is epic and honest at the same time.

In the second place, with 9 nominations, is Pilar Palomero's debut film, The Girls set in 1992, tells the story of a group of 11-year-old girls who study in a nuns' school in Zaragoza while they are entering a new stage of their lives: adolescence. During the film, through a brilliant photography and an extremely intimate and simple script, we can see how these girls gradually discover some realities of life of which they were not aware until that moment and how they face some of the taboos that flooded the society at that time such as premature motherhood. 

This film won the award for best film at the Forqué awards and is, without a doubt, one of the favorites to win the same award at this gala. Among the categories to which it is nominated are the best new director for Palomero, best photography for Daniela Cajías, and best-supporting actress for Natalia de Molina and it is very likely that the film will end up winning one of these awards. However, it is worth mentioning the novel performance of the protagonist, Andrea Fandos, who, despite not receiving any nominations due to her young age, has been awarded for her role in the film by the critic. 

In third place, with five nominations, there is Ane, the first feature film by David Pérez Sañudo, a drama in Basque that tells the story of a young mother who, realizing that her daughter has not returned home, begins a search for her whereabouts which will lead her to discover the mysterious life her daughter leads.

This film has swept the San Sebastián Festival, taking home the Basque film award, as well as at the Forqué awards, where the protagonist Patricia López Arnaiz won the award for best actress. That is why it would not be surprising if this success continued in the Goya´s. 

Finally, it is worth mentioning the last film by Icíar Bollaín, Rosa´s Wedding, with eight nominations, about the liberation of a woman who, at 45 years of age, realizes that she has been living an empty life always satisfying others, which is why she decides to contract marriage to herself. This story of female liberation and introspection has received the support of the critic since its premiere, not only for its careful aesthetics and liberating message but above all for its protagonist, Candela Peña, who makes an extremely intimate and at the same time explosive interpretation which may lead her towards her fourth Goya in this 35th edition. 

Apart from these films, we must also mention other very good options that have several nominations, such as the Cesc Gay´s film Sentimental with five nominations, or The Year of Discovery, the documentary by Luis Lopez Carrasco that promises to conquer the category of "Best documentary" about the events that took place in Cartagena in 1992: as well as the new film by Isabel Coixet, Nieva en Benidorm starring Timothy Spall and Sarita Chodhury. 

As we have mentioned, we will have to wait until March 6 to find out if our favorites win a prize, but it must be recognized that this year has been full of great audiovisual works and more starred than ever by women who are more predominant in all categories than previous years. That is why whatever the results will be we do not doubt that they will be well deserved.
