EVOLUCIÓN DE LOS EFECTOS ESPECIALES EN EL MUNDO DEL CINE

¡Bienvenidos una semana más! Hoy vamos a hacer un fascinante viaje por la evolución de los efectos especiales en el cine, desde la revolucionaria Jurassic Park hasta el espectacular Avatar, y cómo el CGI (imágenes generadas por computadora) ha transformado completamente la forma en que disfrutamos las películas en solo 30 años.

Cuando en 1993  Steven Spielberg estrenó Jurassic Park, pocos podían imaginar el impacto que tendría en la industria cinematográfica. La película no solo revolucionó el género de aventuras y ciencia ficción, sino que también fue un hito en el uso del CGI para dar vida a dinosaurios de manera realista y emocionante. Hasta entonces, los efectos especiales se basaban principalmente en animatronics y maquetas, pero la mezcla perfecta de estas técnicas con las imágenes generadas por computadora cambió las reglas del juego para siempre.

El éxito de Jurassic Park abrió la puerta a una era donde el CGI comenzó a ganar protagonismo, y poco a poco se fue integrando en todo tipo de producciones. Durante los años 90 y principios de los 2000, vimos cómo películas como Terminator 2, Matrix o El Señor de los Anillos utilizaron el CGI no solo para crear criaturas fantásticas, sino también para inventar mundos enteros y efectos visuales nunca vistos.

Pero fue en 2009 cuando James Cameron volvió a revolucionar el cine con Avatar. Esta película no solo llevó el CGI a un nivel sin precedentes con sus impresionantes paisajes alienígenas y personajes digitales hiperrealistas, sino que también introdujo nuevas tecnologías, como la captura de movimiento avanzada y el 3D estereoscópico, que hicieron que la experiencia cinematográfica fuera más inmersiva que nunca.

Desde entonces, el CGI ha evolucionado de forma vertiginosa, mejorando la calidad visual, la integración con escenas reales y la capacidad para contar historias que antes solo podían imaginarse en los sueños más salvajes de los cineastas. Películas como Avengers:Endgame, The Lion King (2019) o Dune  han demostrado que el CGI no solo es una herramienta técnica, sino una parte esencial de la narrativa visual.

Sin embargo, esta evolución también ha generado debates sobre el equilibrio entre efectos digitales y efectos prácticos. Muchos fans y cineastas defienden la importancia de los efectos tradicionales para mantener la autenticidad y la emoción en la pantalla, mientras que otros celebran las posibilidades infinitas que ofrece la tecnología digital.

En definitiva, en estos 30 años hemos sido testigos de una transformación radical que ha llevado al cine a lugares insospechados, haciendo que las historias sean más grandes, más épicas y, sobre todo, más espectaculares.

EVOLUTION OF SPECIAL EFFECTS IN THE WORLD OF CINEMA

Welcome one more week! Today we're going on a fascinating journey through the evolution of special effects in cinema, from the revolutionary Jurassic Park to the spectacular Avatar, and how CGI (computer-generated imagery) has completely transformed the way we enjoy movies in just 30 years.

When Steven Spielberg released Jurassic Park in 1993, few could have imagined the impact it would have on the film industry. Not only did the film revolutionize the adventure and sci-fi genre, but it was also a milestone in the use of CGI to bring dinosaurs to life in realistic and exciting ways. Until then, special effects were mainly based on animatronics and models, but the perfect blend of these techniques with computer-generated imagery changed the rules of the game forever.

The success of Jurassic Park opened the door to an era where CGI began to gain prominence, and little by little it was integrated into all kinds of productions. During the 90s and early 2000s, we saw how films such as Terminator 2, The Matrix or The Lord of the Rings used CGI not only to create fantastic creatures, but also to invent entire worlds and visual effects never seen before.

Since then, CGI has evolved dramatically, improving visual quality, integration with real scenes, and the ability to tell stories that could previously only be imagined in filmmakers' wildest dreams. Films such as Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King (2019) or Dune have shown that CGI is not only a technical tool, but an essential part of visual storytelling.

However, this evolution has also generated debates about the balance between digital effects and practical effects. Many fans and filmmakers champion the importance of traditional effects in maintaining authenticity and emotion on screen, while others celebrate the endless possibilities offered by digital technology.

In short, in these 30 years we have witnessed a radical transformation that has taken cinema to unsuspected places, making stories bigger, more epic and, above all, more spectacular.

Deadpool y Wolverine: la dupla más esperada del universo Marvel

¡Bienvenidos una semana más! Hoy no podemos dejar pasar la oportunidad de hablar de lo que promete ser uno de los mayores eventos cinematográficos del universo Marvel: la explosiva unión entre Deadpool yWolverine en la gran pantalla. Dos personajes icónicos, queridos por los fans y con una química tan letal como hilarante. ¿Listos para la locura?

Tras años de rumores, filtraciones y súplicas de los seguidores más fieles, Marvel Studios y Ryan Reynolds lo han hecho realidad: Hugh Jackman regresa como Wolverine, y no solo como un cameo, sino como parte central de la historia en Deadpool & Wolverine, que se estrenará en 2024. Este regreso ha generado una ola de entusiasmo que ha arrasado en redes sociales, tráiler con millones de visualizaciones y fans analizando cada frase como si se tratara de una tesis.

Desde su primera aparición en el universo X-Men, Wolverine se ha consolidado como un personaje duro, melancólico y brutalmente honesto. Uno de los aspectos más emocionantes del proyecto es ver cómo se manejará el tono. Las películas de Deadpool se han caracterizado por su humor negro, violencia explícita y enfoque para adultos. Y mejor aún: Wolverine no viene a suavizar nada, sino a multiplicar el caos.

Deadpool and Wolverine: "The most anticipated duo in the Marvel universe"

Welcome one more week! Today we can't miss the opportunity to talk about what promises to be one of the biggest cinematic events in the Marvel universe: the explosive union between Deadpool and Wolverine on the big screen. Two iconic characters, beloved by fans and with a chemistry as lethal as it is hilarious. Ready for madness?

After years of rumors, leaks, and pleas from the most loyal fans, Marvel Studios and Ryan Reynolds have made it happen: Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine, and not just as a cameo, but as a central part of the story in Deadpool & Wolverine, which will be released in 2024. This return has generated a wave of enthusiasm that has swept social networks, trailer with millions of views and fans analysing each sentence as if it were a thesis.

Since his first appearance in the X-Men universe, Wolverine has established himself as a tough, melancholic and brutally honest character. At the other extreme or perhaps at the same end is Deadpool, the mercenary with a loudmouth, chaotic, sarcastic and with a fourth wall more broken than his own neurons. What happens when you put them together? A combination as unpredictable as it is irresistible.

This new installment not only represents a milestone for the reunion of these two characters, but also for what it means within the MCU. With Deadpool 3 officially forming part of the Marvel universe, the door opens to new realities, trips to the multiverse and cameos that promise to make longtime fans tremble.

“The Marvels” y el reto de reinventar el universo cinematográfico de Marvel

¡Mayo sigue trayendo sorpresas para los amantes del cine!, esta semana queremos hablaros de una de las películas más esperadas del universo Marvel, TheMarvels, que no podía faltar en nuestra lista.

Tras años de éxitos taquilleros y un universo interconectado que parecía imparable, Marvel se encuentra ante un momento clave, reinventarse o arriesgarse a caer en la rutina. The Marvels, estrenada este mes, es parte de ese intento por refrescar la fórmula y conectar con nuevas generaciones.

Dirigida por NíaDa Costa y protagonizada por BrieLarson (CapitanaMarvel), ImanVellani (Ms.Marvel) y TeyonahParris (MonicaRambeau), esta película nos ofrece una historia en la que tres heroínas se ven forzadas a trabajar juntas cuando sus poderes comienzan a entrelazarse misteriosamente. Acción, humor y una nueva dinámica en pantalla que pone en el centro a personajes femeninos con diferentes estilos, edades y formas de ver el mundo.

Pero más allá del argumento, lo interesante es cómo Marvel está intentando salir del piloto automático, nuevas voces tras las cámaras, inclusión de personajes más diversos y un tono menos solemne, más cercano a las audiencias actuales. Aunque no todos los fans están convencidos, The Marvels representa un intento valiente por darle una vuelta de tuerca al UCM (UniversoCinematográfico de Marvel) sin perder su esencia.

¿Será suficiente para recuperar el entusiasmo que se vivía con cada estreno de la saga del Infinito? El tiempo (y la taquilla) lo dirá. Por lo pronto, es una excelente opción para disfrutar en el cine este mes, especialmente si eres fan del género y te apetece ver algo con energía renovada.

Así que, si tienes ganas de superhéroes, viajes espaciales y buen entretenimiento, The Marvels puede ser el plan perfecto para una tarde primaveral de cine.

“The Marvels” and the challenge of reinventing the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

May continues to bring surprises for movie lovers!, this week we want to talk about one of the most anticipated movies in the Marvel universe, The Marvels, could not be missing from our list.

After years of blockbusters and an interconnected universe that seemed unstoppable, Marvel is facing a key moment, reinventing itself or risking falling into a routine. The Marvels, released this month, is part of that attempt to refresh the formula and connect with new generations.

Directed by Nía Da Costa and starring Brie Larson (Captain Mrvel),Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel)  and Teyonah Parris (Mónica Rambeau), this film offers us a story in which three heroines are forced to work together when their powers begin to mysteriously intertwine. Action, humor and a new dynamic on screen that puts female characters with different styles, ages and ways of seeing the world at the center.

But beyond the plot, the interesting thing is how Marvel is trying to get out of autopilot, new voices behind the cameras, inclusion of more diverse characters and a less solemn tone, closer to current audiences. Although not all fans are convinced, The Marvels represents a brave attempt to give a twist to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) without losing its essence.

Will it be enough to recover the enthusiasm that was experienced with each premiere of the Infinity saga? Time (and the box office) will tell. For now, it is an excellent option to enjoy at the cinema this month, especially if you are a fan of the genre and want to watch something with renewed energy.

So, if you're in the mood for superheroes, space travel, and good entertainment, The Marvels may be the perfect plan for a spring movie afternoon.

Los mejores estrenos de abril

¡Feliz abril a todos! Con la llegada de la primavera y los días cada vez más largos, ¿qué mejor momento para salir a la calle y hacer planes? Para los amantes del cine, cambiar las tardes de manta y película en el sofá por un plan primaveral que termine en una sala de cine ¡es una excelente idea! Por eso, aquí os traemos cinco estrenos muy interesantes de este mes. Esta vez no incluimos opciones tan aptas para los más pequeños, pero sí una gran variedad de nacionalidades.

Empezamos con la primera película, de casa. Se trata de ‘Pájaros’, que se estrena el 5 de abril. Protagonizada por los grandes actores Luis Zahera, quien ganó el premio a mejor actor en el reciente Festival de Málaga por la película, Javier Gutiérrez, Teresa Saponangelo, y dirigida por Pau Durà. Un día Mario aparece en el garaje de Colombo y lo contrata de chófer para ir a la Costa Brava a ver grullas. Al llegar a su destino, le cuenta que las aves han variado su rumbo migratorio hacia el delta del Danubio. Como Colombo necesita el dinero, acepta llegar hasta allí. Ocultando sus verdaderos motivos, emprenden un viaje que los llevará a conocerse mejor y enfrentarse a sí mismos.

El siguiente estreno viene de Bélgica; ‘La chica que sanaba’ llega el 19 de abril a nuestros cines. El film está escrito y dirigido por Fien Troch, y es una coproducción Bélgica-Países Bajos-Francia-Luxemburgo. Holly es una niña de 15 años que llama a su colegio para decir que ese día se queda en casa. Poco después, se produce un incendio en la escuela en el que mueren varios alumnos. Anna, una profesora intrigada por Holly y su extraña premonición, la invita a unirse al grupo de voluntariado que dirige. La presencia de Holly parece traer paz mental, calidez y esperanza. El film ha estado nominado a Mejor Película en los festivales de Venecia y Gijón.

Las siguientes tres recomendaciones se estrenan todas el 26 de abril. Iniciamos con ‘El especialista’, la nueva película de Ryan Gosling y Emily Blunt dirigida por David Leitch. Se trata de un thriller de acción inspirado en la serie de televisión de los años 80 creada por Glen A. Larson. La trama sigue a Colt Seavers, un doble de acción que, tras un accidente que casi acaba con su carrera, decide centrarse en su salud física y mental. Sin embargo, Colt se verá atrapado en una siniestra trama criminal cuando le propongan participar en la nueva película dirigida por su ex, Jody Moreno, cuyo protagonista ha desaparecido.

Continuamos con el cine de Hollywood, y es que ‘Rivales’, protagonizada por la increíble Zendaya y dirigida por Luca Guadagnino. Ambientada en el competitivo mundo del tenis profesional, la historia sigue a Tashi, una jugadora convertida en entrenadora que ha transformado a su marido Art en un campeón de Grand Slam. Sin embargo, tras una racha de derrotas, Tashi le inscribe a en un evento “Challenger”, donde Art deberá enfrentarse a Patrick, el antiguo novio de Tashi. A medida que sus pasados y presentes chocan, las tensiones aumentan.

Para terminar, nos vamos hasta Italia, donde Paola Cortellesi ha dirigido la película ‘Siempre nos quedará mañana’. Es primavera y toda la familia está alborotada por el inminente compromiso de la querida hija mayor, Marcella. Marcella solo espera casarse rápidamente con un simpático chico de clase media, Giulio, y librarse por fin de esa incómoda familia. La película se desarrolla en la Italia de los años 40 y ofrece un equilibrio entre drama y humor mientras explora la condición de la mujer en esa época.

Y hasta aquí las recomendaciones de este mes. Esperamos que hayan despertado vuestro interés y disfrutéis de un bonito plan primaveral con alguna (o varias de ellas).

April's Best Premieres

Happy April everyone! With the arrival of spring and the days getting longer, what better time to go out and make plans? For movie lovers, swapping cozy evenings with a blanket and a film on the couch for a springtime plan that ends in a movie theater is an excellent idea! That's why we bring you five very interesting premieres for this month. This time, we don't include options suitable for the little ones, but rather a great variety of nationalities.

We start with the first film, from home. It's 'Birds', which premieres on April 5th. Starring the great actors Luis Zahera, who won the award for Best Actor at the recent Málaga Film Festival for the movie, Javier Gutiérrez, Teresa Saponangelo, and directed by Pau Durà. One day, Mario appears in Colombo's garage and hires him as a driver to go to the Costa Brava to see cranes. Upon reaching their destination, he tells him that the birds have changed their migratory route towards the Danube Delta. Since Colombo needs the money, he agrees to go there. Hiding their true motives, they embark on a journey that will lead them to know each other better and face themselves.

The next premiere comes from Belgium; 'Holly' arrives on April 19th in our cinemas. The film is written and directed by Fien Troch, and it's a co-production of Belgium-Netherlands-France-Luxembourg. Holly is a 15-year-old girl who calls her school to say that she's staying home that day. Shortly afterward, a fire breaks out at the school in which several students die. Anna, a teacher intrigued by Holly and her strange premonition, invites her to join the volunteer group she leads. Holly's presence seems to bring mental peace, warmth, and hope. The film has been nominated for Best Picture at the Venice and Gijón festivals.

The next three recommendations all premiere on April 26th. We start with 'The Specialist', the new film starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt directed by David Leitch. It's an action thriller inspired by the 80s TV series created by Glen A. Larson. The plot follows Colt Seavers, a stuntman who, after an accident that almost ends his career, decides to focus on his physical and mental health. However, Colt will be trapped in a sinister criminal plot when he is proposed to participate in the new film directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, whose lead actor has disappeared.

We continue with Hollywood cinema, and that's 'Challengers', starring the incredible Zendaya and directed by Luca Guadagnino. Set in the competitive world of professional tennis, the story follows Tashi, a player turned coach who has turned her husband Art into a Grand Slam champion. However, after a string of defeats, Tashi signs him up for a "Challenger" event, where Art must face Patrick, Tashi's former boyfriend. As their past and present collide, tensions rise.

To finish, we go to Italy, where Paola Cortellesi has directed the film 'C’è ancora domani'. It's spring and the whole family is excited about the imminent engagement of the beloved eldest daughter, Marcella. Marcella just hopes to quickly marry a nice middle-class boy, Giulio, and finally get rid of that uncomfortable family. The film is set in Italy in the 1940s and offers a balance between drama and humor while exploring the condition of women at that time.

Gala de los Oscar 2024: Ya conocemos la lista de nominaciones

Hola a todos, una semana más. Estamos muy contentos porque la temporada de nuestros premios favoritos está a la vuelta de la esquina. Cada vez queda menos para conocer los ganadores de los premios de cine más importantes de España y de Hollywood. Hoy estamos aquí para hablar de los Premios Oscar, ya que la pasada semana conocimos la lista de nominados oficiales.

La gala de entrega de galardones de la Academia de Hollywood se celebrará el 10 de marzo, durante la madrugada del domingo al lunes en España.

El fenómeno 'Barbenheimer' partía como favorito después de un año en el que tanto 'Barbie' como 'Oppenheimer' se han adelantado al resto de títulos en taquilla.

Lily Gladstone encabezaba gran parte de las apuestas en su categoría, mientras que Cillian Murphy y Bradley Cooper tendrán que pelear por la estatuilla a 'Mejor Actor', categoría que para sorpresa de muchos no incluye a Leonardo Dicaprio por su papel en 'Los Asesinos de la Luna'.

Como resumen, entre las nominaciones de los Oscars 2024 destaca claramente 'Oppenheimer', con 13 candidaturas, seguida de cerca por 'Pobres criaturas', con 11, y 'Los asesinos de la luna', con 10.

A estos 3 primeros títulos les sigue de cerca 'Barbie', con 8 nominaciones.  'Maestro' finalmente ha recibido 7 nominaciones, y 'Anatomía de una caída', 'Los que se quedan', 'La zona de interés' y 'American Fiction', han obtenido 5 candidaturas cada una.

Para muchos ha sido una sorpresa la ausencia de 'Margot Robbie' o 'Greta Gerwing' en esta lista, y Ryan Gosling ya ha dado declaraciones “No hay Ken sin Barbie. Decir que estoy decepcionado de que no estén nominadas en sus respectivas categorías se quedaría corto…”

En las nominaciones españolas podemos presumir de las dos nominaciones a 'La sociedad de la nieve' (' Mejor Película Internacional' y ' Mejor Maquillaje y Peluquería') y de la presencia de la estupenda 'Robot Dreams' en la candidatura a mejor película de animación.

Y para terminar, vamos a enumerar los nominados en las candidaturas a 'Mejor Película', ' Mejor Director'  y 'Mejor Actor/Actriz Protagonista'. ¡Nosotros ya nos estamos poniendo al día para ver todas las pelis que nos faltan en la lista!

Oscar Gala 2024: Final list of nominations.

Hello everyone, one more week. We are very excited because the season of our favorite awards is just around the corner. We are getting closer to finding out the winners of the most important film awards in Spain and Hollywood. Today, we are here to talk about the Oscars, as last week we learned the list of official nominees.

The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 10, during the night from Sunday to Monday in Spain.

The 'Barbenheimer' phenomenon was the favorite after a year in which both 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' surpassed the rest of the titles at the box office.

Lily Gladstone led many of the bets in her category, while Cillian Murphy and Bradley Cooper will have to compete for the 'Best Actor' statuette, a category that surprisingly does not include Leonardo DiCaprio for his role in 'The Killers of the Flower Moon.'

¡Bienvenidos una semana más! En el día de hoy hablaremos de ‘Dune: Parte Dos’, dirigida por Denis Villeneuve, la muy esperada secuela de la adaptación cinematográfica de la icónica novela de ciencia ficción escrita por Frank Herbert. La primera entrega, lanzada en 2021, fue un éxito tanto comercialmente como para la crítica, y ahora los fanáticos se preparan para sumergirse una vez más en el intrigante mundo del planeta desértico de Arrakis.

El estreno de esta película se vio afectado por la huelga de Hollywood del año pasado, lo que llevó a Warner Bros y Legendary Entertainment a posponer su lanzamiento originalmente programado para noviembre. La decisión fue tomada para evitar que la falta de promoción afectara negativamente a la taquilla, dada la ausencia de estrellas en eventos promocionales.

Esta producción ha sido uno de los proyectos más ambiciosos de los últimos años, y aspira a superar la taquilla de la primera entrega, que llegó a recaudar unos 435 millones de dólares en todo el mundo. Ya en la primera entrega, la dirección de Denis Villeneuve recibió elogios por la interpretación visual y la captura del tono épico de la obra original.

The first installment, released in 2021, was a success both commercially and critically, and now fans are gearing up to immerse themselves once again in the intriguing world of the desert planet Arrakis.
