THE LEGEND OF CONAN

Parece ser que volverá a la gran pantalla la historia del ya conocido “Conan el Bárbaro”, el gran guerrero Cimerio, de la mano de Fredrik Malmberg y Chris Morgan ,“The legend of Conan”.

 

Esta vez se trata de algo único, lo que quieren representar es la vida de este famoso personaje “después de”, es decir, nos presentarán a un Conan en edad adulta, envejecido por los años, con el reflejo de un gran guerrero Cimerio en el rostro. La secuela lógica de la película de John Milius de 1982, acaba con Conan en el trono como un guerrero experimentado, y es precisamente en ese punto donde quieren empezar la última aventura, digo última porque relata el fin de su larga vida, su camino hacia el Valhalla (la tierra donde vivían los nórdicos muertos en batalla y sus dioses).

 

 

No es el primer intento que se hace por tirar de la manta con esta leyenda del cine, el último fue “Conan el Bárbaro” 2011, con el actor Jason Momoa como protagonista. En mi opinión ha sido lamentable, soy consciente de que tener como referencia una película de ese calibre puede ser un gran obstáculo, sin embargo, el resultado ha sido en su momento peor de lo esperado.

 

 

Una de las cosas que harán de este nuevo intento algo más interesante y con mayores posibilidades de agradar al público, es la participación del mismísimo Arnold Schwarzenegger, el actor perfecto para el papel, no sólo porque fue él mismo el que representó a Conan en 1982, sino porque las marcas del tiempo de ambos coinciden en una medida aceptable con la fase de madurez que quieren plasmar en el nuevo film.

 

Según parece, a este veterano actor, que en Julio de este año cumplirá 66 años, le ha emocionado la idea, puesto que le han dado la oportunidad de reencontrarse con el personaje que en su día le sirvió de trampolín en su carrera como actor.

 THE LEGEND OF CONAN

The classic story of "Conan the Barbarian", the great Cimmerian warrior, will return to the big screen as "The legend of Conan", thanks to Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan.

 

The movie is a little different, because they want to represent the later life of this famous character  an adult Conan who looks older, but who still has the image of a great Cimmerian warrior .

 

It will be the logical sequel to the John Milius film from 1982, because that film ends with Conan on the throne as a experienced warrior, and they want to start this last adventure from that point. I say last, because the new film relates to the end of his long life, and his journey to Valhalla (the land of the gods and Nordic warriors who died in battle).

 

It is not the first attempt to continue this film legend - the last one was "Conan the Barbarian" 2011, with Jason Momoa as the protagonist. In my opinion it was not very good. I know that having a film of this calibre as a reference can be a very big obstacle, however the result of that movie was worse than expected.

 

One of the things that will make of this new attempt more interesting and with more possibilities to please the public, is the participation of Arnold Schwarzenegger.  He is the perfect actor for this role, not only because it was he who represented the Conan of 1982, but also because he is an old man, so both are in the same  stage of maturity that the directors want to capture in the new film.

 

Apparently, for this veteran actor, who in July of this year will be 66 years old, the idea is exciting, because they have given him the opportunity to reconnect with the character who once served as a springboard for his career as an actor.

 

"The Legend of Conan" is a huge professional challenge, and personally I hope to experience Conan's latest adventure watching the only true protagonist.
