Todo lo que necesitas saber sobre el Festival de Cine de Cannes 2023

El próximo mes de mayo se celebrará la 76ª edición del prestigioso Festival de Cine de Cannes. El Palacio de Festivales y Congresos de Cannes acogerá del 16 al 27 de mayo a infinidad de artistas y seguidores del cine que pasarán por allí. A pesar de no conocerse todavía quienes compondrán el excelente jurado de largometrajes, te contamos todo lo que sabemos hasta la fecha sobre el festival, sus nominados e invitados.

Las películas seleccionadas oficialmente como nominadas de esta 76ª edición se conocieron el pasado 13 de abril en una conferencia de prensa celebrada en París. En competición hay un total de 19 películas entre las que se encuentran “Club Zero” de Jessica Hausner, “La Chimera” por Alice Rohrwacher o “L’´été Dernier” de Catherine Breillat. Solo seis de estos 19 largometrajes nominados son dirigidos por mujeres. La película de apertura de esta categoría será “Jeanne du Barry” por Maïwenn que no está incluida en la competición. 

La categoría denominada “una cierta consideración” abrirá con “Le Règne Animal” de Thomas Cailley. En esta categoría participan 16 largometrajes entre los que se encuentran “Los Delincuentes” por Rodrigo Moreno, “Adiós Julia” primera película de Mohamed Kordofani o “Rien À Perdre!” primer filme de Delphine Deloget. En esta categoría, ocho de las dieciséis nominadas son las primeras producciones de sus directores, dándoles así una oportunidad para mostrar sus talento.

También se proyectarán películas fuera de competición: “Indiana Jones y el Día del Destino” por James Mangold, “Cobweb” por Kim Jee-woon y “Matadores de la Luna de Flores” por Martin Scorsese; habrá proyecciones de medianoche: “Kennedy” de Anurag Kashyap, “Omar la Fraise” por Elias Belkeddar y “Acide” por Just Philippot; y, por supuesto, no podían faltar los estrenos: “Kubi” de Takeshi Kitano, “Bonnard, Pierre et Marthe” por Martin Provost, “Cerrar los Ojos” por Victor Erice y “Le Temps D’Aimer” de Katell Quillévéré. 

Para poner el broche final al festival, habrá una sección de este dedicada a proyecciones especiales. Este año las seleccionadas han sido: “Hombre de Negro” por Wang Bing, “Ciudad Ocupada” por Steve Mcqueen, “Anselm” de Wim Wenders y “Retratos Fantasmas” de Kleber Mendonça Filho. 

A partir del 13 de mayo, se publicará el horario para que los seguidores del festival puedan organizarse y planifiquen de la mejor manera posible su experiencia de manera que no se pierdan sus proyecciones favoritas de la edición. 

El sábado 27 de mayo podrás disfrutar de los premios de la 76ª edición del festival en línea. La ceremonia será transmitida en vivo y exclusivamente para France 2. La entrega de premios “Un Certain Regard” será el viernes 26 de mayo en el Teatro Debussy y los premios “La Cinef” para películas de escuelas de cine serán anunciados el jueves 25 de mayo por el Jurado de Cortometrajes y La Cinef durante una ceremonia en el Teatro Buñel, seguida de una proyección de las películas galardonadas. 

Va a ser un festival repleto de emociones y mucho talento en el que se podrá disfrutar de un cine de calidad y conocer nuevos genios de la gran pantalla. Si eres un amante del buen cine no te puedes perder ni un detalle de este gran festival.

Everything you need to know about the Cannes Film Festival 2023 

The 76th edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival will be held next May. From May 16 to 27, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes will host an infinite number of artists and film fans who will be passing by. Although it is not yet known who will make up the excellent jury of feature films, we tell you everything we know so far about the festival, its nominees and guests. 

The films officially selected as nominees for this 76th edition were announced on April 13 at a press conference held in Paris. In competition, there are a total of 19 films including "Club Zero" by Jessica Hausner, "La Chimera" by Alice Rohrwacher or "L'été Dernier" by Catherine Breillat. Only six of these 19 nominated feature films are directed by women. The opening film in this category will be "Jeanne du Barry" by Maïwenn which is not included in the competition.

The category called "a certain consideration" will open with "Le Règne Animal" by Thomas Cailley. Sixteen feature films are participating in this category, including "Los Delincuentes" by Rodrigo Moreno, "Goodbye Julia" first film by Mohamed Kordofani or "Rien À Perdre!” first film by Delphine Deloget. In this category, eight of the sixteen nominees are the first productions of their directors, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents. 

There will also be screened films out of competition: "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" by James Mangold, "Cobweb" by Kim Jee-woon and "Killers of the Flower Moon" by Martin Scorsese; there will be midnight screenings: "Kennedy" by Anurag Kashyap, "Omar la Fraise" by Elias Belkeddar and "Acide" by Just Philippot; and, of course, the premieres could not be missed: "Kubi" by Takeshi Kitano, "Bonnard, Pierre et Marthe" by Martin Provost, “Cerrar los Ojos" by Victor Erice and "Le Temps D'Aimer" by Katell Quillévéré. 

To put the finishing touch to the festival, there will be a section dedicated to special screenings. This year the selected films are: "Man in Black" by Wang Bing, "Occupied City" by Steve Mcqueen, "Anselm" by Wim Wenders and "Portraits Ghosts" by Kleber Mendonça Filho. 

Starting May 13, the schedule will be published so that festival fans can organize themselves and plan their experience in the best possible way so as not to miss their favorite screenings of the edition. 

On Saturday, May 27, you will be able to enjoy the awards of the 76th edition of the festival online. The ceremony will be broadcast live and exclusively for France 2. The "Un Certain Regard" awards ceremony will be on Friday, May 26 at the Debussy Theater and the "La Cinef" awards for film school films will be announced on Thursday, May 25 by the Short Film Jury and La Cinef during a ceremony at the Buñel Theater, followed by a screening of the award-winning films. 

It will be a festival full of emotions and a lot of talent in which you will enjoy quality cinema and meet new geniuses of the big screen. If you are a lover of good cinema you can not miss a single detail of this great festival.

Los estrenos de finales de abril en Netflix

Te traemos un adelanto de lo que llega esta semana a nuestras casas de la mano de Netflix. No te puedes perder estos estrenos que te tendrán pegado a la televisión y harán que devores los capítulos. 

En primer lugar, el miércoles 19 se estrenará la segunda temporada de “Pálpito”. Esta telenovela colombiana de suspense nos pondrá los pelos de punta cuando retomemos su historia. Simón quiere vengarse de los traficantes de órganos que mataron a su esposa. Pero aparece Camila, la que recibió su corazón. En la primera temporada pudimos ver que ambos se enamoraban pero ninguno de los dos sabía que es aquello que los une. ¿Qué ocurrirá en esta nueva temporada? ¿Conseguirán descubrir el misterioso lazo que los tiene unidos? 

Pero esto no queda ahí, el miércoles también llegará de la mano de la plataforma “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Ayer, hoy y siempre”, una película para devolvernos a la infancia en la que podremos volver a disfrutar de los Power Rangers 30 años después cuando la tragedia vuelve a golpearlos y una joven heroína se unirá a ellos para enfrentarse a su archienemiga más antigua 

El jueves 20 será día de estrenos para las series. La plataforma lanzará no una ni dos, sino tres series este jueves. Por empezar por alguna de ellas, podremos disfrutar de “La diplomática”. En esta serie policiaca podremos seguir la vida de una diplomática que, en medio de una crisis internacional, debe compaginar su nuevo trabajo como embajadora de Reino Unido con su turbulento matrimonio con un célebre político. 

También contaremos con el estreno de “Mordiscos de amor” una mezcla de fantasía comedia y romance. En Calcuta, una vampira rebelde con un diente roto se enamora de un tímido dentista. ¿Podrán vivir su idílica historia de amor? o ¿serán separados por las fuerzas sumas y místicas que los amenazan? Si te gusta un buen drama fantástico es sin duda tu serie ideal. 

Por último, pero no menos importante, el jueves también se estrenará “El club de los corazones partidos”. Una comedia en la que cinco peculiares desconocidos que forman un grupo de apoyo un tanto peculiar tratan de seguir adelante tras romper con sus respectivas parejas. Esta serie es ideal para pasar un buen rato echándote unas carcajadas. 

Como guinda del pastel, el viernes llega cargado de estrenos muy esperados. Respecto a las series, llega el estreno del thriller belga “Diamantes turbios”. Cuando un hijo pródigo sume el emporio de su familia en una deuda asfixiante, su hermano vuelve al barrio de los diamantes de Amberes para lidiar con las consecuencias. Esta serie te pondrá los pelos de punta de principio a fin. 

Además, llega el estreno de la segunda temporada de “Bienvenidos a Edén” donde podremos descubrir qué pasará con nuestros protagonistas favoritos y si conseguirán salvar a mas gente de las garras de Astrid y su plan maléfico. ¿Lograrán volver sanos y salvos? 

Respecto a los largometrajes, el viernes viene cargado de estrenos. En primer lugar tenemos “Con la soga al cuello”. Este thriller trata sobre una pareja de Estambul que empieza de cero en un pueblo de la costa egea para huir de un escándalo. Pero pronto descubren que los lugareños se han propuesto liberarse de ellos. 

También nos encontramos con el estreno de “Dieciocho otra vez” un filme sueco en el que podremos ver la vida de Amelia cuando en su 40 cumpleaños pide un deseo que se hace realidad: volver a cumplir 18 años como en 2002. Pronto empieza a arrepentirse cuando empieza a revivir el día una y otra vez. ¿Conseguirá volver a la normalidad? 

La semana cerrará con el estreno de “Guía de viaje hacia el amor” una comedia romántica en la que el veremos a una ejecutiva de viajes estadounidense cuyo trabajo la lleva a Vietnam, donde gracias a un guía encantador descubrirá un estilo de vida que la transformará para siempre.

End of April´s releases on Netflix 

We bring you a preview of what's coming to our homes this week on Netflix. You can't miss these premieres that will have you glued to the TV and will make you devour their chapters. 

First up, the second season of "Pálpito" will premiere on Wednesday 19. This Colombian telenovela thriller will make our hair stand on end when we pick up its story. Simón wants revenge on the organ traffickers who killed his wife. But she appears, Camila, the one who received his heart. In the first season we saw that they both fell in love but neither of them knew what it is that unites them. What will happen in this new season? Will they manage to discover the mysterious bond that unites them? 

But that's not all. On Wednesday, the platform will also bring us "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always”, a film to take us back to our childhood in which we can enjoy the Power Rangers again 30 years later when tragedy strikes again and a young heroine joins them to face their oldest archenemy. 

Thursday 20th will be a day of series premieres. The platform will launch not one, not two, but three series this Thursday. To start with one of them, we will be able to enjoy “The Diplomat". In this crime series we will be able to follow the life of a diplomat who, in the midst of an international crisis, must combine her new job as ambassador to the United Kingdom with her turbulent marriage to a famous politician. 

We also have the premiere of “Tooth Pari", a mix of fantasy, comedy and romance. In Calcutta, a rebellious vampire with a broken tooth falls in love with a shy dentist - can they live out their idyllic love story, or will they be separated by the mystical and supreme forces that threaten them? If you like a good fantasy drama, this is definitely the series for you. 

Last but not least, Thursday will also see the premiere of "El club de los corazones partidos". A comedy in which five quirky strangers who form a somewhat peculiar support group try to move on after breaking up with their respective partners. This series is ideal for a good time and a good laugh. 

As icing on the cake, Friday is packed with much-anticipated premieres. On the series front, the Belgian thriller "Diamonds" premieres. When a prodigal son plunges his family's emporium into crippling debt, his brother returns to Antwerp's diamond district to deal with the consequences. This series will have your hair standing on end from start to finish. 

In addition, the second season of "Welcome to Eden" will premiere and we will find out what will happen to our favourite characters and if they will manage to save more people from the clutches of Astrid and her evil plan. Will they make it back safe and sound? 

As far as feature films are concerned, Friday is packed with premieres. First up is “Boga Boga". This thriller is about a couple from Istanbul who start from scratch in a village on the Aegean coast to escape a scandal. But they soon discover that the locals have set out to get rid of them. 

We also see the premiere of “One More Time", a Swedish film in which we see the life of Amelia when on her 40th birthday she makes a wish that comes true: to turn 18 again as she did in 2002. She soon begins to regret it as she starts to relive the day over and over again. Will she ever get back to normal? 

The week will close with the premiere of “A Tourist’s Guide to Love" a romantic comedy in which we will see an American travel executive whose job takes her to Vietnam, where thanks to a charming guide she will discover a lifestyle that will transform her forever.

El fenómeno de Super Mario Bros

Todo el mundo conoce a los famosos hermanos fontaneros. Mario y Luigi Bros son los protagonistas de un videojuego diseñado por Shigeru Miyamoto y producido por la prestigiosa empresa japonesa Nintendo, que vio la luz el 13 de septiembre de 1985. Desde entonces estos dos hermanos y sus intrépidas aventuras han entretenido a infinidad de generaciones con sus distintos videojuegos. 

Pero la cosa no queda ahí, no siendo suficiente con la infinidad de videojuegos que han protagonizado, ahora los hermanos han saltado a la gran pantalla con “Super Mario Bros: La Película”. De la mano de Aaron Horvath y Michael Jelenic, Mario Luigi, Peach, Toad e incluso Bowser llegan a nuestros cines para devolvernos a nuestra infancia. Porque sí, ¿quién no ha jugado alguna vez a alguno de sus innumerables videojuegos. 

La película está totalmente inspirada en los videojuegos, pero cuenta con una peculiaridad. En esta ocasión Peach no será la princesa en apuros que necesita ser rescatada por Mario. Siendo sinceros, en el siglo en el que estamos eso se queda un poco anticuado ¿no creen?. En esta aventura Mario y Luigi se adentran en un mundo mágico en el que se verán separados y Mario deberá emprender una gran y arriesgada aventura para encontrar a su hermano. En el viaje hará infinidad de amigos nuevos que le ayudarán a llegar hasta Luigi como Toad, el champiñón local, o la Princesa Peach, guerrera líder del Reino Champiñón que le enseñará a Mario unas cuantas lecciones de combate para combatir contra el temido Bowser.

Sin duda alguna la película está rompiendo las estadísticas. En menos de dos semanas ha destronado a “Frozen 2” y “Gru, Mi villano favorito” como la película de animación más taquillera de la historia consiguiendo recaudar 368 millones de dólares en su estreno mundial coronándose como el segundo mejor estreno de la historia del cine animado detrás de “Los Increíbles 2”. No podía esperarse menos de un fenómeno que ha marcado tantas generaciones con sus más de 160 videojuegos. 

La película es perfecta para todos los públicos. Tanto pequeños como mayores van a disfrutar de ella. Siempre viene bien desconectar de la rutina y la vida adulta y qué mejor que esta película para transportarnos de nuevo a nuestra infancia jugando en los recreativos, en nuestras casas, con amigos, con familia. Es perfecta para un plan en familia, con amigos, con pareja o incluso para disfrutarlo individualmente. 

Así que ya sabes, si no tienes plan para este fin de semana, puedes llevar a tus hijos, llama a tus amigos, insiste a tu novia para que te acompañe y aprovechad para disfrutar de esta gran película en el cine. Disfrutad de la experiencia de ver la película en el cine y acompaña a los hermanos Bros en  la gran pantalla, con el olor a palomitas, las butacas, el sonido envolvente por toda la sala. Una sensación que no podrás vivir en casa.

The Super Mario Bros phenomenon 

Everyone knows the famous plumber brothers. Mario and Luigi Bros are the protagonists of a video game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and produced by the prestigious Japanese company Nintendo, which was released on 13 September 1985. Since then, these two brothers and their intrepid adventures have entertained countless generations with their different video games

But it doesn't stop there, not being enough with the infinity of videogames they have starred in, now the brothers have jumped to the big screen with “The Super Mario Bros. Movie". From the hand of Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, Mario Luigi, Peach, Toad and even Bowser come to our cinemas to take us back to our childhood. Because yes, who hasn't played one of their countless video games at some time or another? 

The film is totally inspired by the videogames, but it has a peculiarity. This time Peach is not the princess in distress who needs to be rescued by Mario. To be honest, in this century that's a bit old-fashioned, don't you think? In this adventure Mario and Luigi enter a magical world where they are separated and Mario must embark on a great and risky adventure to find his brother. On the journey he will make lots of new friends who will help him reach Luigi, such as Toad, the local mushroom, or Princess Peach, the warrior leader of the Mushroom Kingdom who will teach Mario a few combat lessons to fight the dreaded Bowser. 

The film is undoubtedly breaking the statistics. In less than two weeks it has dethroned "Frozen 2" and “Despicable Me" as the highest-grossing animated film in history, grossing $368 million in its world premiere, making it the second highest-grossing animated film in history behind "The Incredibles 2". Nothing less could be expected from a phenomenon that has marked so many generations with its more than 160 video games. 

The film is perfect for all audiences. Both young and old will enjoy it. It is always good to disconnect from routine and adult life and what better than this film to transport us back to our childhood playing in the arcades, in our homes, with friends, with family. It is perfect for a family plan, with friends, with your partner or even to enjoy it individually. 

So now you know, if you don't have a plan for this weekend, you can take your kids, call your friends, insist your girlfriend to come with you and enjoy this great movie at the cinema. Enjoy the experience of watching the film in the cinema and accompany the Bros. on the big screen, with the smell of popcorn, the seats, the surround sound throughout the room. A sensation you won't be able to experience at home.

El Teatro Pavón de Madrid representa “El sonido oculto”

Ahora que llega la Semana Santa y tenemos unos días de descanso aprovechamos para recomendar cultura por si no tenéis plan algún día, queréis hacer algo distinto u os apasiona el teatro y no sabéis a cuál de todas las obras que se representan preferís ir. Nosotros recomendamos “Elsonido oculto”. 

Protagonizada por Omar Ayuso, el actor de la exitosa serie de Netflix “Élite”, y la polivalente ToniAcosta llega al TeatroPavón “El sonido oculto”, el inquietante thriller psicológico que ha fascinado a Broadway. 

Del finalista al Premio Pulitzer Adam Rapp y tras su triunfal estancia en Broadway, llega a España la adaptación de Juan Carlos Rubio de este fascinante thriller que ha revolucionado al público y la crítica ‘neoyorkinos’. Julia Martín es una profesora de escritura en la prestigiosa Universidad de Salamanca. The Teatro Pavón of Madrid performs “El sonido oculto” 

Now that Easter is coming and we have a few days off we take the opportunity to recommend culture in case you don't have plan one day, you want to do something different or you are passionate about theatre and you don't know which of all the plays that are being performed you prefer to go to. We recommend "El sonido oculto”. 

Starring Omar Ayuso, the actor from the hit Netflix series "Élite", and the versatile Toni Acosta, "The Hidden Sound", the disturbing psychological thriller that has fascinated Broadway, is coming to the Teatro Pavón. 

From Pulitzer Prize finalist Adam Rapp and after its triumphant stay on Broadway, Juan Carlos Rubio's adaptation of this fascinating thriller that has revolutionised New York audiences and critics arrives in Spain. A show where nothing is what it seems, where the line between fiction and reality is practically invisible. 

Julia Martín is a professor of writing at the prestigious University of Salamanca. Between books by Dostoyevsky and the cold of the Castilian winter, she meets Hugo Barroso, a mysterious student who visits her in search of inspiration for his novel. Paradoxically, it is Hugo who inspires Julia to ask him for an almost inconceivable favour. Julia and Hugo each carry their own story: the mystery lies in how it ends. 

Undoubtedly, with such a synopsis and the impeccable performance of these two great actors, you can't miss this adaptation of the great play. Who better than Omar Ayuso to give life to the character of Hugo and give him that characteristic, mysterious and reserved profile that gives colour to all the characters he plays. And if that wasn't enough, there's no one better than Toni Acosta to play the inveterate reading teacher. Are you going to miss the opportunity to see this duo of great actors working together? 

The play will be performed until the 14th of May from Wednesday to Saturday at 7pm and on Sundays in an earlier session at 6pm. It lasts approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes and takes place in the main hall of the theatre.
