El festival arrancaba con una gran alfombra roja llena de estrellas y lujo, pero también mucho escándalo y polémica. A pesar de ser una edición caracterizada por la presencia de numerosas mujeres, datos sorprendentes e incomparables a otras ediciones pues este año se presentan muchas directoras, la elección de la película de apertura con la que se dio inicio al festival generó gran debate. La seleccionada para encabezar y dar comienzo a la semana del cine fue “Jeanne Du Barry” protagonizada por Jhonny Depp, el cual recibió una gran ovación de 7 minutos por su interpretación.
Entre otra de las candidatas a abrir el festival se encontraba “Le Retour” de Catherine Corsini. Esta ha generado grandes polémicas debido a ciertas acusaciones de abuso durante la grabación y escenas sexuales muy explícitas. Además, la actriz que las interpretaba era menor de edad en el momento del rodaje. La película fue retirada del proceso de selección pero finalmente la reincorporaron para dar fin a los rumores sobre dichos abusos pues nunca se llegaron a denuncias o instancias formales.
Pero, a pesar de las polémicas, lo que interesa del festival es el cine, y la gran incertidumbre de quién se llevará este año el famoso galardón La Palma de Oro. En esta edición, el jurado está compuesto por increíbles profesionales de la cinematografía como son Ruben Östlund, ganador de su segunda Palma de Oro por “El triángulo de la tristeza”; la actriz y directora estadounidense Brie Larson; el actor estadounidense Paul Dano; el actor francés Denis Ménochet; el último ganador del Goya a Mejor Actor por “As Bestas”; el director argentino Damián Szifrón; la directora francesa Julia Ducournau, ganadora de la Palma de Oro por “Titane”; la directora marroquí Maryam Touzani; el guionista y director británico-zambiano Rungano Nyoni y el escritor afgano Atiq Rahimi.
Este año, el festival cuenta con una mayor presencia española más allá de Pedro Almodóvar, Erice o Elena Martín con “Creatura” en la Quincena de Realizadores. El Marché du Film ha contado con España como país invitado de honor en esta 76ª edición, lo que da reconocimiento al sector audiovisual de nuestro país que está cosechando grandes éxitos internacionales como “20.000 especies de abejas”, destacada en la Berlinale y el Festival de Málaga, o “As Bestas” gran triunfadora de los Goya 2023.
A pesar de llevar tan solo un par de días de festival, ya hay producciones y artistas que han causado sensación y han sido ovacionados. Entre ellos, encontramos a Jhonny Depp por su vuelta a los cines y su gran interpretación en “Jeanne du Barry”, y el gran Pedro Almodóvar, quién colapsó el festival con el esperado estreno de “Extraña forma de vida”. Además, los asistentes no solo pudieron disfrutar del estreno del cortometraje, sino también de un encuentro con el director y uno de sus actores principales, Ethan Hawke. Pedro Pascal no pudo asistir al festival debido al rodaje de “Gladiator 2”.
Todavía
