El paisaje agrícola se transformó ante los
ojos de los espectadores en el de fábricas, obreros, chimeneas gigantes, representando
la revolución industrial y la urbanización.
Kenneth Branagh dio vida al ingeniero
británico Isabard Kingdom Brunel, quien creó la línea de ferrocarril y muchos
barcos de vapor.
Se rindió homenaje a los grandes logros británicos
como la sanidad pública, las sufragistas que lucharon por el voto femenino y a
la BBC. Curiosamente en homenaje a grandes series dramáticas se vio un instante
una escena de los Alcántara en "Cuéntame" (España).
No podía ser menos la interpretación del “Tubular
Bells” de Mike Oldfiled, la aparición de
Mister Bean, con su momento de humor "interpretando" "Carros de
Fuego". La autora de Harry Potter también tuvo su momento así como la “caída”
de decenas de Mary Poppins bajando del cielo. Finalmente David Beckhan puso la
guinda al espectáculo con esa lancha
encendiendo la antorcha que inauguraban los Juegos Olímpicos Londres 2012.
Para cerrar el espectáculo, un emocionado
Paul Mc Cartney interpretó "Hey Jude" ante el "tarareo",
manos cogidas y sonrisas de todos los que estaban presentes.
No hubiera sido posible sin los más de
10.000 voluntarios que aportaron su grano de arena para esta gran fantasía.

Olympic Opening Ceremony in London
Queen Elizabeth II played a key part in the impressive show, designed by Danny Boyle that lasted three hours. The Queen appeared with James Bond (Daniel Craig) in a scene where Bond collected her from Buckingham Palace to take her to the Olympic stadium. While the helicopter hovered over the stadium, Bond and the Queen appeared to jump out and parachute down, then the Queen and her husband appeared in the VIP box to a round of applause and laughter.The agricultural scene transformed before the eyes of the spectators and became factories, workers, and giant chimneys to represent the industrial revolution.
Kenneth Branagh bought the character Isabard Kingdom Brunel to life. He was the British engineer who created the railway lines and steamboats.
The show paid homage to some of the greatest British achievements like the public health service, the suffragettes who fought for the female vote, and the BBC. Interestingly, while they were showing the tribute to great drama series, there was a glimpse of a scene from the Alcántara in “Cuéntame” (Spain).
Just as memorable was Mike Oldfield playing “Tubular Bells” and the appearance of Mister Bean with his hilarious interpretation of “Chariots of Fire.” The author of Harry Potter also had her moment, as did the shower of Mary Poppins characters falling from the sky. Finally, David Beckham put the icing on the cake with the speedboat that bought the flame to signal the start of the London Olympic Games 2012.
Paul McCartney closed the ceremony with an emotional rendition of “Hey Jude” accompanied by the humming and smiles of the crowd.
It would not have been possible without the 10,000 volunteer who contributed to this great spectacle.

Para contrarrestar esto las entradas más caras se vendieron a 2000 libras...no se si el espectáculo merecía ese precio...
Hombre, hay quien ha visto en este espectáculo, un alarde británico. Pero creo que es lo lógico cuando un país es anfitrión de ser sede de los Juegos Olímpicos, pues "lucir" sus "mejores galas" propias y recordar al pueblo lo que ese país ha hecho a lo largo de su historia y que es un honor por ello ser sede de las Olimpiadas. Creo que es lo que deberían hacer todos, mostrarse tal cual son y decir "aquí estamos, somos quienes somos y con orgullo y dignidad os recibimos al mundo entero". ¿2000 libras? pues sí es mucho...
