EL ESPIRITU DEL '45

Si nombro a Ken Loach seguramente la mayoría sabe que me estoy refiriendo a uno de los más importantes directores y guionistas, tanto de televisión como de cine, que Inglaterra ha tenido nunca y que ha presentado hace poco su nueva película “El Espiritu del ‘45”. En ella el autor, siguiendo la forma de un documental, hace una clara y contundente retrospectiva de los años que siguieron a la segunda guerra mundial en Inglaterra, hasta llegar a la actualidad.

 

En primer lugar me llamó la atención la forma en la que se desarrolló la película, aquí no hay actores de peso internacional, sino personas comunes que con sus relatos fueron los testimonios y en cierto modo los verdaderos protagonistas de la historia que se va trazando. Una mirada hacía un pasado bastante difícil que caracterizó tanto a Gran Bretaña como otros países europeos que se vieron involucrado en el secundo conflicto mundial. Una mezcla de imágenes de archivo y testimonios que desvelan de manera clara y directa los ideales que irrumpían en aquellos años, debidos sobre todo a la fuerte crisis económica, y como pudieron evolucionar de forma totalmente opuesta con la llegada al poder de la “Dama de Hierro”, es decir Margaret Thatcher y los conservadores. Loach presenta un cuadro bastante revelador sobre cómo nació el nuevo socialismo a partir del 1945 junto a sus intenciones de crear una sociedad más justa, digna y unida a través del esfuerzo común, y como estos ideales se vieron reemplazados por otros totalmente distintos con la toma de poder del capitalismo y sus otros principios de egoísmo y avaricia.

Todos estos impulsos y valores fueron sustituidos a favor del actual sistema socioeconómico europeo que ahora más que nunca se encuentra en una crisis sin precedentes tanto de identidad como de desarrollo. Después de todos estos recuerdos, testimonios y opiniones lo que se comprende es que para poder conseguir un sistema de derechos sociales adecuados hay que seguir luchando y peleando con todos los medios y acciones tanto entonces como en la actualidad.

Así que creo realmente que Loach con esta película se ha superado, en primer lugar por el asunto mucho más actual de lo que se puede imaginar presentándolo en forma de documental es decir a través de hechos y testimonios reales que en ningún momento llega a ser aburrido o pesado, sino todo lo contrario. Las imágenes y videos actuales se mezclan genialmente con archivos documentales, imágenes de época, entrevistas a los protagonistas y resultan bien seleccionados y excepcionalmente montados, típico en Ken Loach.

THE SPIRIT OF '45 

If I name Ken Loach surely most know that I am referring to one of the most important directors and writers, both TV and film, that England has ever had and recently presented his new movie "The Spirit of '45". In it the author, following the form of a documentary, makes a clear and compelling retrospective of the years following the Second World War in England, up to today.

First I was struck by the way in which the film was developed, there are no international weight actors but common people that their stories were the testimonies and somehow the real protagonists of history, to be traced. One look was quite difficult past that characterized both Britain and other European countries were involved in seconded global conflict. A mixture of archival footage and testimonies that reveal clearly and directly in the ideals those were breaking in those years, mainly due to the severe economic crisis, and as they could totally opposite evolve with the coming to power of the "Iron Lady", Margaret Thatcher and the Conservatives. Loach presents a picture quite revealing about how the new socialism born from 1945 with his intentions to create a more just, dignified and united through common effort, and how these ideals were replaced by completely different with the seizure of power of capitalism and its other principles of selfishness and greed.

All these impulses and values were substituted for the current European socioeconomic system now more than ever is in an unprecedented crisis of identity both developments. After all these memories, testimonials and reviews what is understood is that in order to achieve adequate social rights system must keep fighting and fighting with all means and actions then and now.

So I really think this film Loach has surpassed first by the matter much more current than you can imagine presenting it in the form of documentary is through facts and real stories that never becomes boring or heavy, but quite the opposite. The current images and videos files are mixed brilliantly with documentaries, vintage images, interviews with the protagonists and are exceptionally well chosen and assembled, typical of Ken Loach.
