Los de New Jersey hacen los deberes antes de fin de año: Vuelve Bon Jovi

En la recta final del último Tour de Bon Jovi (Open Air, 2011) que finalizó con las actuaciones de Barcelona, San Sebastián y Lisboa la banda iba anunciando en las últimas canciones del concierto que se tomarían un descanso, dejarían de producir discos por una temporada y de hacer conciertos. Lo justificaban en que llevaban varios años seguidos en gira mundial (The Circle y Open Air) y que necesitaban descansar…

Con los acontecimientos que arrasaron la costa de New Jersey a causa del huracán Sandy, la banda anunció un concierto benéfico para recaudar fondos y ayudar a las familias afectadas. Este concierto sería organizado el 12/12/12 en el ya mítico Madison Square Garden. Hasta aquí todo parecía normal, un concierto benéfico de esta banda y seguirían con su descanso indeterminado.

Pocos días después, recibí en el correo una notificación de que, efectivamente Bon Jovi volvería a estar de gira a lo largo de 2013, cosa que me provocó gran entusiasmo (Que volvieran a los escenarios) y gran decepción a su vez (no pasarán por Barcelona). El nuevo Tour se llamará Because We Can, que corona el nuevo diseño de su Website y no le di más importancia en el momento, porque no podría disfrutar del resurgir de la banda.

Mi sorpresa: hoy 11 de Diciembre he recibido otra notificación en el correo diciéndome que la banda americana iba a sacar un nuevo single el 7 de Enero de 2013, que encabezaría el nuevo disco Because We Can. Sí, como leéis, nuevo disco, nueva gira…y ya tenemos a Bon Jovi sobre la mira otra vez como uno de los grandes del Rock.

Ahora las redes sociales arden de especulaciones sobre el nuevo disco, ¿remontarán a los orígenes después de haber hecho el recopilatorio que parecía ser “definitivo” el año pasado o como hizo Megadeth en Th1rt3en el año pasado? ¿Tendrán un sonido renovado como ocurrió después de Crossover o These Days? Las preguntas están en el aire a la espera de una confirmación oficial por parte de la banda… tendremos que esperar al 7 de Enero para saber con qué nos sorprenden.

The guys from New Jersey do their homework before the end of the year: Bon Jovi returns

Bon Jovi announced they will stop producing CDs and stop touring for a while. They made the announcement during the last tour (Open Air, 2011) that ended with the shows in Barcelona, San Sebastián and Lisbon. The reason they gave was that they have toured for the last few years (The Circle, Open Air…) and they need to rest.

With the events that devastated the New Jersey coast as a result of hurricane Sandy, the band announced a benefit show to raise money and help the affected families. The show was scheduled for the 12/12/12: a simple fundraising concert by the band who would then continue their rest.

A few days after, I received an e-mail where it said that, in fact, Bon Jovi would go on tour in 2013, which made me very happy (that they returned to the stage) and disappointed at the same time (they won’t be in Barcelona). The new Tour will be called Because We Can, that tops off the new design of their website, and I didn’t give it more importance at the time, because I did not think I would be able to enjoy their comeback.

My surprise: on the 11^th of December I received another e-mail saying that the American band was going to release a new single on January 7^th,2013, that will be the title song of the new album Because We Can. Yes, you read that correctly…new CD, new tour… and we have Bon Jovi in our sights again as legends of Rock.

The social networks are on fire with speculations about the new CD. Will they go back to their roots after their ´final´ compilation last year, like Megadeth did with Th1rt3en the year before? Will they have a new sound like after Crossover or These Days? The questions are waiting for official confirmation by the band…we will have to wait until the 7^th of January to know what they will surprise us with.

COMO CONOCÍ A… ESTA SERIE

¿Te suena el principio de esta frase? Si es así, es que, como yo, quizás seas un fanático de la serie Cómo conocí a vuestra madre.

Desde siempre he seguido gran multitud de series, desde Perdidos, Prison Break, True Blood o The Walking Dead, aunque las sitcoms, exceptuando Friends, nunca han sido de mi agrado ya que los chistes suelen parecer muy facilones, las risas enlatadas son insoportables y los personajes tienden a ser bastante simplones.

No obstante, desde que empecé a ver esta serie, mi percepción hacia este género cambió sustancialmente. Cómo conocí a vuestra madre es una serie que consigue que te enamores de los personajes, rías y llores con ellos, ver cada capítulo hace que sientas la necesidad de ver otro y otro más.

La serie narra las disparatadas situaciones que viven un grupo de cinco amigos, el supuesto protagonista, Ted Mosby, empieza la historia contando a sus hijos cómo conoció a su madre, lo que brinda a la serie un narrador y la excusa para contar las aventuras de estos amigos. En el grupo también está una pareja, Marshal y Lily, una periodista llamada Robin y, quizás, el mejor personaje secundario que se ha inventado: el ligón Barney.

Los diálogos, por el contrario que en otras series similares, son rápidos, mordaces e ingeniosos, y cada una de las bromas se acaba convirtiendo en un ‘gag’. Los juegos temporales y los parones realizados en la imagen para que Ted explique algo son increíblemente acertados, aportando un gran dinamismo y complejidad a la serie.

¿El único punto malo? El doblaje, merece la pena verla en Versión Original y, para el que no se aclare, subtitulado, ya que de lo contrario se pierden muchas bromas lingüísticas y juegos de palabras.

Así que si quieres pasar unos 20 minutos divertidísimos, no lo dudes más, será legen…dario.

HOW I MET…THIS SERIES

Does the beginning of this quote sound familiar to you? If so, it’s because you, like me, are a ´How I Met Your Mother´ fan.

I’ve always been very fond of TV series, from Lost, Prison Break and True Blood to The Walking Dead; in contrast to sitcoms which I don’t really like (except for Friends), maybe because of their simple jokes, unbearable canned laughs and gullible characters.

Nevertheless, since I started watching this series, my sitcom perception changed substantially. How I met your mother is a series that makes you fall in love with all the characters, crying and laughing with them all. Each and every episode creates the need to watch the next one.

The series shows the absurd situations that a group of five friends live. The main character, Ted Mosby, starts the story telling his children how he met their mother, a fact that allows the series to have a narrator with an excuse to tell the story about his friends. In the group there is also a little couple, Marshall and Lily, a journalist called Robin, and finally, maybe the best secondary character ever invented: the ladies’ man Barney.

The dialogs are the opposite of other similar series, because they’re quick, sharp and clever, and every joke ends up becoming a gag. The flashbacks and flashforwards, used to add explanations from Ted are just right, giving dynamism and complexity to the series.

The only weakness? The Spanish dubbing. It is worth watching the series in the original version, because if you just watch the dubbed version of ´How I Met Your Mother’ you will miss so many linguistic jokes and puns. For those who don’t speak English there are subtitles.

So if you want to spend a really good 20 minutes, don’t hesitate, it’s gonna be legend…wait-for-it…dary!

The Walking Dead, Temporada 3, no proseguirá hasta el 10 de Febrero

Esta es la última semana que disfrutaremos de la aclamada tercera temporada de The Walking Dead, serie que marca furor allí donde es emitida. 8/16 episodios emitidos desde este lunes 3/12 y que ha recibido únicamente en Estados Unidos 10 millones de visualizaciones por cada capítulo emitido, todo un éxito de audiencias.

La tercera temporada nos pone en situaciones ya vistas en el comic de Robert Kirkman, y abarcara el argumento comprendido entre la granja (donde se desarrolló la segunda temporada), la prisión “abandonada” y la ciudad de supervivientes del “Gobernador”.

Cabe destacar que de momento la temporada ha quedado en un punto tenso muy importante, que quizá empiece a hacer inferencias en las tramas actuales (o casi actuales) del comic. Cabe destacar que los protagonistas siguen dejando bastante que desear y que los personajes “fantasmas” cada vez tienen una mayor importancia en la serie, importancia que en el comic no llegan a tener o siquiera aparecen.

En conclusión, el domingo 10 de febrero volverá The Walking Dead en Estados Unidos, y posteriormente (a la semana siguiente) tendremos la versión española del noveno capítulo de la serie. ¿Qué sorpresas nos aportará esta segunda parte de la tercera temporada? Tocará esperar.

The Walking Dead, Season 3 Delayed Until the 10th of February

This is the last week that we will enjoy the acclaimed third season of The WalkingDead, the TV-series that is so enthusiastically received wherever it is broadcast. Eight of 16 episodes have been broadcast since Monday 3^rd of December, and in the USA the show was a success with 10 million views for each episode broadcast.

The third season uses scenes from Robert Kirkman’s comic, and will include the farm (location for the second season), the abandoned prison, and the “Governors” city of survivors.

The season is currently at a very important point, that may begin to draw inferences from the current (or almost current) plot of the comic. It should be noted too, that the characters leave something to be desired, and that the “phantom” characters are increasingly more important in the series, an importance they don´t have in the comic, or they don´t appear at all.

In conclusion, on Sunday the 10^th of February, The Walking Dead will return to the screen in the USA, and the following week, we will have the Spanish version of the ninth chapter of the series. What surprises will there be in this second part of the third season? We will have to wait and see.

LES MISÉRABLES

La primera vez que ví el musical Les Misérables en Madrid estaba en la universidad; me impactó tanto que no he podido resistir la tentación de volver a verla tantas veces como he tenido la oportunidad; aunque en cada una de ellas no he podido resistirme a las lágrimas, y mira que yo no soy de lágrima fácil....

Bromas aparte, la obra de Víctor Hugo, escrita en 1862 y convertida en una de las novelas más conocidas del siglo XIX y en uno de los mejores musicales de las últimas décadas, narra una trágica historia de pasión, sacrificio y amor no correspondido. A mi parecer, es tan desgarradoramente real que es imposible no verse reflejado en algún momento en ella y bajo el hechizo de alguno de sus personajes.

La obra refleja la sociedad francesa de principios del XIX, su política, sus costumbres y refleja así mismo la abierta oposición de Víctor Hugo a la pena de muerte, impuesta en Francia por la Revolución.

A finales del mes de diciembre volveremos a tener el placer de volver a verla en nuestros cines, después de un rodaje de casi un año. Esta vez además con el aliciente de poder ver también a sus protagonistas: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe y Anne Hattaway entre otros. En sus primeras proyecciones ha recibido unas excelentes críticas e incluso se la propone como candidata a los Oscar 2013.

¡¡Ya estoy deseando que la estrenen en España!! ¡¡Llevaré mis pañuelitos preparados!!

LES MISÉRABLES

 

I was at university the first time I saw the Les Misérables musical in Madrid; it shocked me so much as I could not resist the temptation to see it again as often as I could; crying each time like the first time, even though I don´t usually cry very easily....

Víctor Hugo's book, written in 1862 and converted into one of the best-known novels of the 19th century, is also one of the best musicals of recent decades. It tells a tragic story of passion, sacrifice, and unrequited love. In my opinion, it is so breathtakingly real, that it is impossible to not to relate to some part of the book and fall under the spell of one of its characters.

The book reflects early 19th French society, its politics and customs, and therefore Victor Hugo’s open opposition to the death penalty, imposed on France by the Revolution.

At the end of December, we will again have the pleasure of seeing it in our cinemas after almost a year of filming. This time with the added delight of seeing the stars of the movie: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, among others. The early viewings have received some excellent reviews, and it has been proposed as a candidate for the 2013 Oscar Awards.

I'm already looking forward to the premiere in Spain! I'll have my tissues ready!
