CHRIS KILLIP EN TRABAJO-WORK

Esta semana quería hablaros de una exposición fotográfica que promete ser uno de los mejores trabajos hasta ahora realizados por el fotógrafo de fama internacional Chris Killip. La muestra se expone en el Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía hasta el 24 de enero del 2014. 

Para quien no conoce a Chris Killip les diré que se trata de un célebre fotógrafo al cual este campo artístico debe mucho, sea por sus magníficos trabajos sea por introducir y estimular nuevos conceptos de entender la fotografía y consecuentemente su manera de plasmarla. Se formó profesionalmente entre el fotoperiodismo y las fotografías publicitarias con una particular predisposición hacía los temas de crítica social. De hecho entorno a los años ’70 se dio a conocer por su testimonio, a través de sus fotos, de uno de los momentos más complicados que estaba pasando la Gran Bretaña con un particular análisis sobre la década de los ochenta. La crisis, que golpeo toda Europa en diferente medida, castigó de modo particular el sector industrial induciendo a una gran transformación de la clase obrera, la más afectada. Además fue un convencido sostenedor de la fotografía documental independiente no solo por ser principal testigo de los hechos sino porque en alguna manera puede ser un importante instrumento de ayuda en los cambios sociales. La fotografía es un medio de comunicación que va más allá de las actividades comerciales y publicitarias con las que se relaciona diariamente y hoy está considerada como una forma cultural significativa de educación, entretenimiento y de denuncia cuando es necesario. Entre sus multitudes actividades y trabajos es importante recordar que fue el cofundador y director de la Newcastle-Upon-Tyne’s Side Gallery y comisario en múltiples exposiciones, en particular entre los años 1976 y 1984.

 

En las obras que ahora se exponen, cien imágenes de la vida real capturadas en el Norte de Inglaterra entre el 1968 y 2004, se pueden ver fragmentos de la vida cotidiana en toda su simplicidad y drama, donde los protagonistas son personas humildes que se mueven entre el trabajo y el tiempo libre en una zona de Inglaterra que se vio fuertemente comprometida económica y socialmente. Son imágenes introspectivas en las que Killip consigue mostrar también las diferencias entre los empleos industriales tradicionales y los que iban surgiendo con las nuevas tecnologías.

CHRIS KILLIP IN WORK

This week I want to tell a photographic exhibition promises to be one of the best works so far carried by internationally renowned photographer Chris Killip. The sample exposed at the National Museum Reina Sofia Art Centre until January 24, 2014.

For those who do not know Chris Killip tell them that it is a famous photographer to which this owes much artistic field, either by their magnificent works to introduce and stimulate new understanding of photography concepts and consequently its way to translate it. Photography is a medium that goes beyond marketing and advertising activities that relates the daily and today it is considered a significant cultural form of education, entertainment and denunciation when necessary. Among its many activities and work is important to remember that was the co-founder and director of the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne's Side Gallery and curator of many exhibitions, in particular between 1976 and 1984.

In this works that are now exposed, hundred real-life images captured in the North of England between 1968 and 2004, you can see snippets of everyday life in all its simplicity and drama, where the protagonists are humble people who move between work and free time in an area of England which was heavily involved economically and socially. They are introspective images you get Killip also show the differences between traditional and industrial jobs that came up with the new technologies.

ARRANCA EL FESTIVAL DE SITGES

Ya está aqui  la 46ª edición del Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic, un festival que destaca por ser el mejor del mundo en su género. Donde se reunirán éxitos internacionales del cine fantástico y  con un espacio dedicado a las nuevas cinematografías y nombres emergentes.

El Festival de Sitges también se ha visto afectada por la crisis, como todo el sector. Este año cuenta con un presupuesto 14% menor que el año pasado. Esto se ha visto reflejado en el número de películas, este año se presentaran 150 películas, 37 menos que la pasada edición. Pero aun así el domingo antes de la inauguración del festival ya se habían vendido más de 33.000 entradas anticipadas, mucho más que la edición anterior.

La sección Oficial Fantàstic cuenta con cuarenta y dos producciones que abarcan todas las opciones que ofrece el cine fantástico. Donde se encuentran grandes trabajos, como Mindscape, ópera prima de Jorge Dorado que hará su estreno mundial en el festival. También participan otras producciones muy esperadas como The Green Inferno de Eli Roth, Machete Kills de Robert Rodriguez, la nueva película de Nicolas Winding Only God Forgives o Only Lovers Left Alive de Jim Jarmusch. Pero también encontramos producciones de animación en la sección Oficial Fantàstic, como  The Wind Rises de Hayao Miyazaki  o la nueva versión cinematográfica del universo de Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods.

En la sección Midnight X-Treme, donde se reúne el mejor terror independiente americano, hay que destacar An American Terror  de Haylar García y Savaged  de Michael S. Ojeda.

Por otro lado la sección Oficial Noves Visions, que busca producciones innovadoras tanto en el ámbito audiovisual como de la narrativa, presenta en la categoría de ficción: Yellow de Nick Cassavettes, The Dirties  de Matthew Johnson, un film reflexivo de la vida adolescente. En la sección de nuevos creadores hay que destacar Faraday una sátira del urbanismo madrileño sufragada a través del crowfunding, realizada por Norberto Ramos del Val.

El festival se ha inaugurado con el estreno de Gran Piano, del catalán Eugenio Mira, protagonizada por Elijah Wood y John Cusack. La clausura se realizara con The Sacrament, de Ti West.

Con el Festival de Sitges 2013 se vivirán nueve días de intensa programación en cuatro salas, que no decepcionarán a los  seguidores del festival,  ya que presentan una variada y amplia oferta de propuestas. Para esta edición se recupera la sala Tramuntana, en la que convivirán actividades y presentaciones con proyecciones de films y series de televisión en soporte DVD y Blu-ray. Este año además añade un nuevo espacio: Sitges a la Fresca, que se realizará en el parque del centro de Sitges 'el Hort de Can Falç'.

SITGES FILM FESTIVAL STARTS 

The 46th International Fantastic Film Festival, has just opened, a festival that stands out as the best in the world of its kind. Where it will meet international successes of the fantastic cinema and a new space dedicated to new cinematographies and names emerging.

The Sitges Festival also has been affected by the crisis, as the whole sector. This year it has a budget 14% lower than last year. This is reflected in the number of films, this year it presented 150 films, 37 less than last edition. Even so the Sunday before the inauguration of the festival it had already sold over 33,000 tickets in advance, much more than the previous edition.

The Official Fantàstic Selection includes forty-two productions that covers all options fantastic cinema offer. There are large works, such as Mindscape, Jorge Dorado's debut that it will make its world premiere at the festival. Also involved other eagerly awaited productions as The Green Inferno of Eli Roth,  Machete Kills of Robert Rodriguez , the new film from Nicolas Winding Only God Forgives or Only Lovers Left Alive by Jim Jarmusch. Furthermore the Official Noves Visions that searches innovative productions in both the audiovisual and the narrative, it presented in the fiction category: Yellow by Nick Cassavetes, The Dirties of Matthew Johnson, a reflective film of teenage life. In the section of new creators should be noted Faraday a satire of urban Madrid through crowfunding borne, by Norberto Ramos del Val.

The festival has been opended with the release of Grand Piano, the Catalan Eugenio Mira, starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack. The closing ceremony will be held with The Sacrament, of Ti West .

With the Festival of Sitges 2013 will live nine days of intense programming in four rooms, that it will not disappoint fans of the festival, as they present a varied and wide range of proposals. For this edition the room recovers Tramuntana, which combines with activities and presentations with projections films and TV series on DVD and Blu-ray. This year also added a new space: Sitges a la Fresca, to be held in the park in the center of Sitges 'Hort Can Falç'.

Cambridge Festival of Ideas celebra las artes, humanidades y ciencias sociales

Cambridge Festival of Ideas es un evento anual que tiene lugar cada otoño y está dedicado para todo tipo de públicos. Su objetivo es celebrar las artes, humanidades y ciencias sociales con una serie de conferencias, actividades, visionado de películas, exhibiciones y otros programas creativos.

Cambridge es una ciudad británica con mucha cultura. Sin ir más lejos, su Universidad está situada en el tercer puesto de las mejores del mundo, como así lo afirma el estudio anual de QS.

Como ya contamos anteriormente, el mes pasado tuvo lugar el Festival de Cine de Cambridge

con la presencia del famoso Stephen Hawking. Con esto se demuestra que esta ciudad aunque sea muy pequeña está llena de cultura.

 

Esta vez es el Cambridge Festival of Ideas el que toma lugar entre el 23 de octubre y 3 de noviembre de 2013 con el tema ‘Fronteras’. Habrá eventos para gente de todo tipo de edad con el objetivo de explorar un gran rango de tópicos desde las artes, humanidades y ciencias sociales.

El pasado año hubo un aforo de 14.000 visitantes y su tópico fue ‘Sueños y Pesadillas’. El tema tenía como objetivo explorar varios desafíos en todo el mundo, desterrando viejas ansiedades y conjurando nuevas esperanzas y temores.

Cambridge Festival of Ideas celebrates the arts, humanities and social sciences

The Cambridge Festival of Ideas is an annual event which takes place every autumn, open to and targeted at the general public. Its aim is celebrating the arts, humanities and social sciences and consists of a number of talks, hands on activities, film screenings, exhibitions and other creative programmes.

 

Cambridge is an English city which has got a lot ofculture. Without going too far, University of Cambridge is ranked third best in the World, according to the annual study of QS.

As we said in the previous post, the Cambridge Film Festival took place last month, with the famous Stephen Hawking staring. These events demonstrate that this city is small but it has a rich culture.

The Cambridge Festival of Ideas dates are 23 October - 3 November 2013 and the theme is set to be 'Frontiers'. There will be events on offer to help people of all ages to explore a huge range of topics within the arts, humanities and social sciences.
 

The last festival in 2012 saw over 14,000 visitors and was organised around the theme of ‘Dreams and Nightmares’.  The theme aimed at exploring various challenges across the globe, unearthing old anxieties or conjuring new hopes and fears.

Lincoln: una perspectiva empresarial

Recientemente, en la sede del CIFF,  tuve por primera vez la oportunidad de asistir a un coaching de cine, el cual fue   organizado por la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares e  impartido por Fernando Giner, docente  de la facultad de económicas y empresariales del mismo centro y toda una eminencia en lo que al sector  empresarial y económico   se refiere.  Durante la sesión se visionaron varias escenas de la película Lincoln (2012) con el objetivo de identificar en ella determinados  aspectos o características aplicables al ámbito empresarial  y de gestión de personas.

Fernando destacó en todo momento la figura de Lincoln como modelo ideal de líder; siempre firme en sus decisiones, constante y con un objetivo bien definido; terminar con la esclavitud en los Estados Unidos, haciendo reflexionar a los asistentes sobre la necesidad del esfuerzo y  la  perseverancia para alcanzar una meta, la cual debemos proteger y defender  con el apoyo de otros, por lo que la alianza con un buen equipo constituye también una clave de éxito.

Por supuesto, el saber priorizar a la hora de cumplir unos objetivos es otra de las características que todo líder debe cumplir, siendo la honestidad otro factor importante a tener en cuenta. La sesión fue rematada con la intervención de los asistentes, que intercambiaron puntos de vista con el ponente, dando lugar así a un interesante debate.

 A esta sesión se suman también los cursos de formación que Fernando Giner imparte por las diversas escuelas de negocios de España, en colaboración con la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares y CARLOS PUECH A.B.M.,

Lincoln: a business approach

Recently, at the headquarters of CIFF, I first had the opportunity to attend a coaching film, which was organized by the University of Alcalá de Henares and taught by Fernando Giner, professor at the Faculty of Economics and business of the same center and a leading figure in what business and economic sector relates. During the session were viewed the film several scenes of Lincoln (2012) in order to identify it certain aspects or characteristics applicable to the business and people management.

Fernando emphasized at all times the figure of Lincoln as an ideal model of leader, always firm in his decisions, consistent with a well-defined goal, ending slavery in the United States, making the audience reflect on the need for effort and perseverance to achieve a goal, which we must protect and defend the support of others, so that the alliance with a good team is also a key to success.

Of course, knowing when prioritizing meet targets is another feature that every leader must meet honesty still another important factor to consider. The session was topped with the intervention of the attendees, who exchanged views with the speaker, thus leading to an interesting debate.

This session also added training courses taught by Fernando Giner various business schools in Spain, in collaboration with the University of Alcalá de Henares and CARLOS PUECH A.B.M,
