J.K. Rowling presenta su nueva novela, “The Casual Vacancy”

Hay vida después de Harry Potter. Y es que la autora de esta popular saga, la británica J.K. Rowling, presentará en breves su primera novela para adultos, “The Casual Vacancy”. La autora afirma sentirse más realizada escribiendo para los más jóvenes, pero esta vez ha querido probar con algo nuevo.

“The Casual Vacancy”, algo así como “La Vacante Ocasional”, narra con humor negro las desavenencias que causan unas elecciones en una idílica localidad de Inglaterra. La historia arranca con la muerte inesperada del personaje Barry Fairweather de 40 años de edad, quien deja una vacante en el ayuntamiento del pequeño pueblo, llamado Pagford. Ese puesto sin ocupar abrirá una guerra entre los habitantes de este supuestamente idílico lugar.

El primer acto promocional de la novela se llevará a cabo el 27 de septiembre en Londres, donde Rowling leerá fragmentos de su obra. Posteriormente, y ya en octubre, la autora ofrecerá un único acto en Nueva York, que será retransmitido por Internet a todas las librerías de Estados Unidos. En este acto, la autora firmará ejemplares y responderá a las preguntas de los asistentes.

La obra saldrá a la venta en inglés, en todo el mundo, el 27 de septiembre de 2012. Pero si preferimos esperar a leer la obra en español, deberemos tener paciencia y aguardar hasta 2013. Esta obra será editada por Salamandra.

La expectación creada alrededor de la temática del libro, de 512 páginas, y la gran repercusión que ha tenido la presentación de la portada, de austero y enigmático aspecto, en las redes sociales, hacen prever que la obra se convertirá en un éxito de ventas en todo el mundo.

Del libro, a demás de la portada, ya podemos conocer su precio, que será de 20 libras (25 euros) la edición de tapa dura, 11,99 libras (15 euros) la edición electrónica, 20 libras (25 euros) la descarga del audiolibro por Internet y 30 libras (37,5 euros) el audiolibro en CD.

Así que solo falta esperar, y en poco sabremos si esta obra tiene el éxito que muchos ya le adjudican.

There is life after Harry Potter. The author of this popular saga, the British J.K. Rowling, will soon present her first novel for adults, “The Casual Vacancy”. The author affirms to prefer writing for young people, but this time wanted to try something new.

“The Casual Vacancy”, narrates with black humor the disagreements that cause a few          elections in an idyllic locality of England. The story starts with the unexpected death of the 40-year-old Barry Fairweather, which leaves a vacancy in the city council of the small village, called Pagford. This vacant position starts a war between the inhabitants of this one supposedly idyllic place.

The first promotional act of the novel will take place on the 27 of September in London, where Rowling will read extracts of her work. Then in October, the author will offer a one-off act in New York, that will be broadcast via the Internet to all the bookstores in the United States.  In this event, the author will sign copies of the book and answer questions from the audience.

The book will be on sale in English, anywhere in the world, on the 27 of September of 2012. But if we prefer to wait to read the book in Spanish, we will have to have patience and wait until 2013. This book will be edited by Salamandra.

The sense of expectancy created around the theme of the book with 512 pages, the buzz the  austere and enigmatic aspect of the cover has generated in the social networks, suggests that the book will be a hit anywhere in the world.

As well as details of the cover, we know its price.  The cost of the  hardcover is 20 pounds, 11.99 for the electronic edition, 20 pounds to download the Internet audio book and 30 pounds for the audio book on CD.

All that is left is to see if it as successful as people expect it to be.
