Crítica:
Una película no puede valorarse según sus nominaciones a
los diferentes premios de "supuesta referencia" y ésta es una de esas
películas que por muchas nominaciones o premios... no puede decirse que sea
destacable. Pero bueno, ahí estamos los espectadores para caer de cuatro patas
a estas "trampas de Hollywood".
La película nos sitúa en la vida de Pat, un joven que ha
pasado ocho meses en una institución mental a causa de un incidente agresivo
con un hombre. Después de esos meses de retención, Pat se verá obligado a vivir
en casa de sus padres (Robert de Niro y Jacky Weaver) cosa que empezará a
mermar su actitud positivista ante el mundo de la cual se había llenado en la
institución mental. La intención de Pat será la de recuperar a su ex-mujer con
la cual tiene una orden de alejamiento (Cosa que no acabo de entender...)
aunque la vida de Pat cambiará considerablemente cuando se cruce con Tiffany,
una chica con ciertos problemas mentales como nuestro protagonista.
Y es la actuación de Robert de Niro y de Lawrence las que
verdaderamente tienen cierto carácter en la película. El resto de actores pasan
bastante desapercibidos pese a tener ese punto positivista que supuestamente
tendría que marcar la película. Una película "rara" desde el punto de
vista argumental y demás, pero a la cual le iremos cogiendo cierto encanto. El
gran lastre de la película es que resulta bastante repetitiva y los 120 minutos
de la película acaban pareciéndonos una eternidad.
En conclusión, lo único que vale la pena es ver a De Niro
y a Lawrence actuar de una forma magistral, el resto de la película es bastante
previsible y lenta aunque en ciertos puntos se hace encantadora. Pero
simplemente es eso, un encanto momentáneo. No es una película de Oscar ni mucho
menos...creo que han habido mejores películas y comedias este año como para que
le caiga a esta película una estatua dorada...pero ya sabemos qué se cuece en
ese horno.

A movie cannot be valued by the nominations received for different,
supposedly ´prestigious´ awards, and this is one of those movies that, despite
receiving many nominations and awards is not a remarkable film. But we as
spectators fall in to these
This film starts with the life of Pat, a young man who spent eight
months in a mental institution due to an aggressive incident with a man. After
all those months inside the institution, Pat is forced to live in his parents’
house (Robert de Niro and Jacki Weaver), which tests his positive attitude.
Pat’s intention is to win back his ex-wife who has a restraining order against
him, but Pat’s life changes considerably when he meets the protagonist Tiffany,
a girl with some mental problems.
Robert De Niro and Lawrence are the ones who give truly remarkable
acting performances in the film. The other actors go unnoticed in the movie,
despite having this positive attitude that is supposed to be the point of the
entire movie. It is a strange movie if we analyze the plot but it does have
some charm. The biggest problem with the film is that it is repetitive, and the
120 minutes of the film will seem like an eternity.
In conclusion, the only
good thing about the film is the acting by De Niro and Lawrence, the rest of
the movie is so fairly predictable and slow. There are some entertaining
moments, but that is all they are. It is not a movie worthy of an Oscar…I think
that there have been better films and comedies which deserve a golden statue
more than this move …but we all know how it works in
