SACRO GRA SE LLEVA EL LEON DE ORO.

Del 28 de agosto al 7 de setiembre se celebró la 70ª Edición de la MostraInternazionale d’Arte Cinematográfica di Venecia.

El premio gordo, el León de Oro, se lo llevó el italiano Gianfranco Rosi por ‘Sacro GRA’, Muestra las vidas de la periferia romana. El autor vivió tres años en una furgoneta, para conseguir las imágenes de estas vidas, tan desconocidas para muchos.

El documental ha dejado huella en el festival, ya que es el primero que triunfa en la selección oficial en los 70 años de este certamen. Juntamente con él, otro documental que luchó por el León de Oro, The unknown known, de Errol Morris.  El documental del ex secretario de Defensa de Estados Unidos, Donald Rumsfeld. Morris, a partir de fechas, grabaciones, material de repertorio y documentos oficiales construye un retrato del protagonista mostrando las verdades y las mentiras de la guerra en Irak.

El Gran Premio del Jurado se lo ha llevado 'Stray Dogs' de Ming-Liang, el Premio Especial del Jurado ha sido para 'Die Frau des Polizisten' del realizador Philip Gröning. Por otro lado, el León de Plata a la mejor dirección, se le ha concedido a Alexandros Avranas por su trabajo en 'Miss Violence'.

La Copa Volpi al mejor actor de esta edición ha ido para Themis Panou por su trabajo en 'Miss Violence', y a la mejor actriz para Elena Cotta por su interpretación en 'Via Castellana Bandiera'. El mejor guión, ha ido a parar 'Philomena' de Steve Coogan y Jeff Pope. Para finalizar, el Premio Marcello Mastroianni al intérprete revelación ha sido para Tye Sheridan por su rol en 'Joe'.

Los premiados de la sección paralela Horizontes, fueron para 'Eastern boys', de Robin Campillo con el Premio "Horizontes" al Mejor Largometraje  y al Mejor Director fue otorgado a Uberto Pasolini por 'Still Life'.

Aunque no se llevaron ningún premio, Latinoamérica llego pisando  fuerte a Venecia. En la sección Horizontes se presentó La vida después, del mexicano David Pablos, una de las jóvenes promesas latinoamericanas. El film tuvo una gran acogida tanto por el público como por las críticas, comentando que debería estar en la competición para optar por el León de Oro.

Un documental que no dejó indiferente a nadie aunque no está en la selección oficial ha sido Ucrania no es un burdel, de Kitty Green. Donde muestra la vida del movimiento feminista en Ucrania. Ha sido una de las producciones más comentadas en el festival, sobre todo por la presentación de la directora con una delegación de jóvenes con sus torsos desnudos, defendiendo el movimiento feminista.

La producción de Thierry Raggobert, Amazonia, fue la elegida para cerrar el festival. La película realizada en Brasil narra la historia de un monito nacido en cautiverio que debe sobrevivir en la jungla. Finalmente los monos de su misma especie cuidan de él.

SACRO GRA WINS THE GOLDEN LION.

The 28th of August to 7th of September was held the 70th Edition Venice International Film Festival.

The grand award, the Golden Lion, was taken by the Italian Gianfranco Rosi for 'Sacro GRA'. It shows the lives of the outskirts of Rome. The author spent three years in a van, to get the images of these lives, as unknown to many.

The documentary marking the festival, as it is the first has triumphed in the official selection in the 70 years of this event. Beside it, another documentary fought for the Golden Lion, was The unknown Known, by Errol Morris. The documentary is about the former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. Morris, with dates, recordings, repertoire material and official documents of the protagonist, builds a portrait showing the truths and lies of the Iraq war.

The Grand Jury Prize took him Stray Dogs Ming-Liang, the Special Jury Prize has been for Die Frau des Polizisten the filmmaker Philip Gröning. On the other hand, the Silver Lion for best director was granted to Alexandros Avranas for his work in Miss Violence.

The Coppa Volpi for Best Actor for this edition has been for Themis Panou for his work in 'Miss Violence', and Best Actress for Elena Cotta for her performance in 'Via Castellana Bandiera'. The best screenplay, has gone for 'Philomena' of Steve Coogan and Jeff Pope. Finally, the Marcello Mastroianni Award for emerging talent Tye Sheridan was for his role in 'Joe'.

The winners of the parallel section Orizzonti, were for 'Eastern boys' by Robin Campillo with Orizzonti Award for Best Film and the Orizzonti Award for Best Director was awarded to Uberto Pasolini for 'Still Life'.

Although they did not take any awards, Latin America came stomping to Venice. In the Horizons section presented La vida después, of the Mexican David Pablos, one of the most promising young Latin American. It explains problems that two brothers faced, after they being abandoned by their mother, they have to cross Mexico to the Sonoran Desert. The film has been well received by the public and the criticism, they saying that it should be in the competition to eligible to the Golden Lion.

A documentary that it did not leave anyone indifferent, though it was not in the official selection, it was Ukraine is not a brothel, by Kitty Green. It shows the life of the feminist movement in Ukraine. It was one of the productions more talked at the festival, especially the presentation of the director with a delegation of young people with their bare torsos, defending the feminist movement.

Raggobert Thierry’s production, Amazonia is chosen to close the festival. The film made in Brazil tells the story of a monkey born in captivity and he needs survive in the jungle. Finally, the monkeys of the same species look after him.
