Después del explosivo
Th1rt3en, el decimotercer álbum de la banda lanzado en 2011, Megadeth anunció
la salida de un nuevo disco fechado para Junio de este año.
Hace poco recibí en
mi correo (sí, otra vez) la confirmación del proyecto y algunas imágenes de lo
que sería la portada y el artbook.
A principios de esta
semana pasada, recibí también la radio
premier que sacaron para promocionar su primer single y decimocuarto disco
(que recibe el mismo nombre de la canción) Super
Collider.
¿Qué sabemos de este
nuevo disco? Pues no mucho más que el avance de “Don’t Turn Your Back” (en el Website de la banda) y su lista de
canciones (de su FB oficial):

Sobre la canción entera que fue transmitida, la verdad es que no acaba de
convencer a la totalidad de los fans. La canción empieza con un solo de
guitarra nada similar a lo que hemos escuchado anteriormente de ellos, no
destaca ni por su velocidad, ni por ser del todo trash Metal, sino que queda algo más descafeinado y melódico.
La primera estrofa es bastante plana y cuando llegamos al estribillo…nos
damos cuenta que esto tampoco acaba de arrancar. Quizá es una canción pensada
para tocarse en directo, pero en esta
versión de radio…no es lo que podríamos esperar de Megadeth.
La canción llega a hacerse pesada de escuchar, no por la dureza de su
sonido, sino por lo empalagosa y sin variaciones. A destacar únicamente el
solo, que se sale mínimamente de la generalidad de la canción.
En conclusión, esperemos que las demás once canciones del disco sean mucho
más interesantes que ésta. Si querían añadir un sonido mucho más “heavy” tendrían que haber hecho eso y no
quedarse en una pseudo-mezcla entre heavy
y trash. Cabe destacar también
que el primer single de Th1rt3en no me gustó nada (Sudden Death) y con el disco
completo cambié rápidamente de opinión. Tendremos que esperar al 4 de Junio
para saber en qué acaba este disco…

Megadeth Returns with Super collider
(2013)
After the explosive Th1rt3en, the
bands thirteenth album released in 2011, Megadeth announced a new CD due for
release this June.
I recently received an email
confirming the project and some exclusive images from the cover and the
artbook. At the beginning of last week, I also
received the radio premiere they released to promote their first single
and their fourteenth album, which has the same name as the song - Super
Collider.
What do we know about
this new CD? Not much more than the advance of Don’t Turn Your Back (on
their website) and the list of their soundtrack from their official FB:

The song has not
impressed all of their fans. It begins with a guitar solo completely different
to what we are used to from them because it is not remarkable for it´s speed
and neither is it totally trash Metal, it sounds like a decaf and
melodic version of something they would usually produce.
The first strophe is very flat and when we get to the chorus the tempo
does not speed up. Maybe the song designed to be played live, but the radio
version is not what we would normally expect from Megadeth.
The song is difficult to listen to all through the way, not because of
the hardness of their sound, but because it is so cloying and monotonous. The
only highlight is the solo, which stands out slightly from the general tone of
the song.
In conclusion, we hope that
the other eleven tracks on the album are much more interesting than this one.
If they wanted to add a much more "heavy" sound, they should have
done that and not produced a pseudo-mixture of heavy and trash. Remember that I
hated the first single from Th1rt3en (Sudden Death), but after listening to the
whole album I quickly changed my mind. We will have to wait until June 4 to see
how this album ends.
