RAFAEL ALVAREZ
"El Brujo" IN THE ODYSSEY OF HOMER
This week I would like to
talk about an event that is very interesting, I think, because culture and
history, once again, are mixed to give life to a work that is already a
success. This is the new work by Rafael Alvarez. He is a important and
award-winning actor and playwright known with the name of art "El Brujo". He presented your spectacle
in these days, in Madrid Alcazar Theater, restored after fire affected its
cover.
All elements involved in
this event are key parts to your success. To start from the place where the
work is performed, one
of the oldest and most traditional theaters in Madrid, in the early nineteenth
century, in the heart of Madrid, in “Calle
Alcalá”. It was long used as a room for both shows film and theater and in
June this year, a fire fortunately not significantly affected. In these days it
returns with a great play, "The Odyssey" by Homer, whom El Brujo wanted to pay tribute to this
show without losing, at the same
time, your personal style with performances alone and originals. In fact this
project on one side retains its classic structure with the principles and
foundations that Homer expressed in this ancient masterpiece, on the other the
actor the actor
wanted to focus this representation in the divine world that characterizes the
goddess Pallas Ateneas. She is the main author of the vicissitudes of Odysseus. At the same time El Brijo wants to captivate the viewer
with a language more popular and more accessible to all audiences.
So this feature Rafael Alvarez makes a renewed
reading of this epic written, rich with intrigue, love, adventures and battles,
with great talent introducing anecdotes and circumstances that evoke
contemporary life. If this is not enough for the occasion has chosen this particular
environment recently returned to life and part of the history of Madrid.
The show will remain in the
Alcazar of Madrid until mid-September.
