Una selección de 10 series y películas en las que las mujeres se muestran empoderadas
2.- Las del Hockey. Es una serie catalana creada por cuatro estudiantes de cine de la Universidad de Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona. Cuenta las vidas de las componentes de un equipo de hockey femenino a las que une una misma pasión. Tras ser abandonadas por su entrenador y amenazadas por el propietario con disolver el equipo femenino, las chicas harán todo lo posible por conservar su equipo. Una fuerte amistad y un claro objetivo las unirá aún más y las enfrentará a numerosas anécdotas y aventuras.
3.- Pose. Muestra la cultura afroamericana y latina LGTBQ+ y de género inconformista de los años 80 en la ciudad de Nueva York. La serie se desarrolla en torno a la “ball culture” entrelazando la vida de todos sus protagonistas, los cuales se desviven por un único objetivo: ser los reyes del ball. Con el mayor reparto “trans” de la historia de la televisión, la serie adentra al espectador en una época de pasarelas, focos, luchas de baile y “voguing”, el baile que Maddona haría tan famoso más adelante. La serie, a pesar de tratar temas duros como el sida, muestra una cara más alegre con el objetivo de mostrar valores como la familia, la amistad y el apoyo que se muestran unos a otros.
4. Orange is the newblack. Esta serie de 2013 comienza con el ingreso en prisión de Piper Kerman, condenada por contrabando de drogas y lavado de dinero. Dentro, el personaje de Piper, que al principio se muestra indefensa y débil, sufre una gran transformación en la que se convierte una mujer fuerte que se resuelve ella misma los problemas y se enfrenta a todo lo que se le pone por delante. Pero Piper no está sola, otras presas y amigas, cada una con una historia detrás, la ayudarán y acompañarán en sus años por prisión transformándola en esa nueva Piper empoderada y segura de sí misma.
5. Gambito de dama. Anya Taylor-Joy da vida a la joven Beth Harmon, una niña a la que abandonan en un orfanato de Kentucky a finales de los años 50. Beth empieza a mostrar un gran talento para el ajedrez a la vez que se va haciendo adicta a los tranquilizantes que el Estado prescribe a los menores como sedantes. La joven chica deberá no solo luchar contra sus propios demonios sino contra el machismo de la época para derribar las barreras del mundo del ajedrez profesional y conseguir el lugar que se merece.
7. Wonder Woman. Diana, princesa de la Amazonas, es entrenada desde pequeña para ser una guerrera invencible. Cuando un piloto norteamericano acaba estrellando su avión en su isla, le habla de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Diana no se lo piensa dos veces y decide acompañar a su nuevo amigo convencida de que es capaz de detener la amenaza. A lo largo de esa lucha por conseguir la paz, Diana descubrirá todos sus poderes y su verdadero destino.
8. Thelma y Louise. Thelma Dickinson es una ama de casa con una vida vacía cansada de su detestable marido, Louise Sawyer es camarera en una cafetería y fantasea con casarse con su novio Jimmy. Juntas deciden irse un fin de semana y hacer un viaje en el coche de Louise para evadirse de la rutina de sus vidas. La escapada supondrá no solo diversión y liberación para las protagonistas, sino también una gran experiencia.
9. Brave. A pesar de ser una película de animación, el mensaje que la joven Mérida transmite es de gran empoderamiento femenino. Mérida es la fuerte, rebelde e indomable hija del Rey Fergus y la Reina Elinor. Desde pequeña, siempre le han llamado la atención todas las actividades que se consideraban para “hombres” y prefería mil veces más estar cabalgando por el bosque con su caballo o practicando con el arco que aprender las labores del hogar con su madre. El miedo a perder su libertad es lo que le hará a la joven romper con las costumbres y tradiciones familiares.
10. Quiero ser comoBeckham. Esta película cuenta la historia
de Jesminder, una chica de 18 años que vive en Londres en el seno de una
familia india tradicional. El conflicto surge cuando sus padres quieren que sea
una esposa como todas las mujeres de su familia. Pero Jasminder no es así, ella
quiere más. Su sueño es jugar al futbol y llegar a ser como Beckham. Esta
película no solo trata sobre el feminismo, ya que muestra a una mujer que lucha
por romper con las tradiciones de su familia y decidir sobre su propio futuro,
también aborda temas como la diversidad cultural.

10 recommendations in honor of International Women’s Day
A selection of 10 series and movies in which women are empowered
1. Grace and Frankie. In this series you will see the life of two septuagenarian friends, Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin), which takes a 360º turn when they discover that their husbands Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterson) are gay and abandoned them to be together. Both will only have each other to face the new life they begin as single women.

6. Wednesday. The successful Netflix series that brings back the Adams Family is a clear example of female empowerment thanks to our little protagonist. In the series, we can see Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, who feels betrayed by her family for abandoning her at the school where her parents studied. In it, Wednesday will make new friends who, despite costing her a great effort to admit it, will help and accompany her during her stay at school. She is the living face of empowerment for various and clear reasons, among them, she always shows that she is capable of doing everything she sets out to do and fights at all costs for what she believes in.

When an American pilot ends up crashing his plane on his island, he tells him about the First World War. 8. Thelma & Louise. Thelma Dickinson is a housewife with an empty life tired of her obnoxious husband, Louise Sawyer is a waitress in a coffee shop and fantasizes about marrying her boyfriend Jimmy. 10.-Bend it LikeBeckham. This film tells the story of Jesminder, an 18-year-old girl who lives in London within a traditional Indian family. The conflict arises when her parents want her to be a wife like all the women in her family. But Jasminder is not like that, she wants more. His dream is to play soccer and become like Beckham. This film is not only about feminism, as it shows a woman struggling to break with her family's traditions and decide on her own future, it also addresses issues such as cultural diversity.
